I can't wait for the draft...we need some fresh, young talent. Palm Beach and Peoria are killing me. They're coming up "short"

He got hurt and this is his first turn through AAA. The people that think the Cards are going to be able to sticky Roby and Mathews into the rotation next year are being wildly optimistic. I would expect next year to be the big year to see if Mathews can make it by the middle of the year into the rotation. I would expect the only rookie add to the rotation next year at the beginning of the year is McGreevy.

Gray
Liberatore
Pallante
McGreevy
The fifth guy is either going to be a pitcher acquired by trade as we move out some of the redundancy or a veteran on a 1-2 year deal ala Kyle Gibson. That gives the Cards 5 guys they know can do it and puts Mathews and Roby in the role McGreevy has this year.

I diidn't see Ortiz coming. It's become fun to see how he does each day.

Yea, when I saw the statcast numbers he had in the MLB draft league and his college numbers I thought he might be interesting. But you never know about how that translates to pro games. He’s been better than I expected.

I'm glad they assigned Rainiel to Palm Beach. It wasn't doing him much good feasting off FCL pitching knowing there was a far greater challenge to address. I figure that next year he'll be much wiser and drilling some A ball pitchers all over the place. Gotta grow and to do that, gotta struggle.
