That game really highlighted the Oilers issues

1st goal, your top d pairing, one gets the puck stolen, the other gets walked.

2nd goal, 2 players close on puck carrier, leaving a man wide open.

3rd goal, truely awful goaltending.

That was Eckholm's fault. He had a perfect lane to pass to Bouchard but waited too long and let Florida get a stick in the way. So he lifted a pass a foot off the ground and threw it at Bouchard's left skate opposite his stick blade, forcing Bouchard into a nearly impossible situation.

They are discussing it on TNT right now. All on Eckholm. He is the one that allowed Florida to backcheck and get pressure and then further created the disaster with an absurd pass to Bouchard.
Eckholm waited too long and made a bad pass. Bouchard stood paralyzed and let it bounce off his hip/(donkey) area.
He could have made more of an effort to secure the puck but he has zero hockey IQ.
Eckholm gave up the inside for the third time in two games .
The Oil have poor defensive personnel.
Bouchard is a pinhead. He is Kyrou with way more responsibility.

I can’t see any smart GM offering him a wheelbarrow of money, even after the regular season he had.

If I was McJesus, I would explore my McOptions on the open market.

I am actually leaning that way as well. He has been awesome this series. Seth Jones has also been amazing but not quite the calibre of the three.
The other thing about Marchant was how many of his goals were all effort type plays. He should win MVP.
I just checked and he is +18.
Florida has the third line of a Stanley Cup Champion.

I think it will be VERY telling if McJesus isn't signed a couple weeks after July 1. Even if he does resign, he might have had real discussions with management on where the heck this is going. But if he isn't signed quickly, I don't know how the Oil don't entertain trading him. It's one of the dumbest things to do to not resign the best player in hockey. Only trumped by being the team that lets that player walk with nothing while you have another top 5 player in hockey on your roster. I was listening to 101 and they were saying it's better to be the guy that lets him walk and then take a couple years to figure it out. That means they wouldn't be attempting to be good again until Draisaitl is 33? That would be the dumbest thing you could ever do.

I would be doing everything to keep the face of hockey there, but If he even balked for a minute, I'd be lining up every phone call. You can't risk having a bad season next year and he just says enough is enough.

Great points. But wasn't the current team president his former agent and who was instrumental in getting McDavid's guy behind th coaching bench? I don't see him shivving the Oilers and leaving. But if he did, Leon would sure flip a rod.

O I don't think he's leaving. His fingerprints are all over the team right now because of the coach hire. But, that was before the current GM. And both GM's failed to understand their cap situation. If you are a talented player and see the young guys leaving because of mismanagement and you are signing outside guys, you might get a little irritated. The way for the Oilers to win is to bring up cheap cap guys.
