after giving up a Lead off HR, Turkington has settled down. I thought he would follow his first 4 games give up 4 or 5 runs and exit early again. He's attempting to finish the 5th inning....he's silenced Duke for 3 hits, 1 run, 8 K's in 5 IP.
Shaw might be coming next.
Cal is destroying Duke 13-1 in the 5th.... Cal's first ever ACC game
----
5 HR for Cal....now 14-1, 6th

FSU and a few other ACC schools won't start their ACC schedule until next week.
LHP Jamie Arnold was a late scratch from his Friday start with FSU. He's apparently too ill to pitch was scratched around 3pm this afternoon.

If current performances continue I'm fairly certain the Cardinals will be drafting either Jamie Arnold or Liam Doyle.
Patrick Forbes is another pitcher to keep an eye on. Second year as a full time pitcher and 1st as a starter. Has absolutely electric stuff and has shown much improved control so far this year. Has the flat VAA fastball that the Cardinals have shown an affinity for in recent years. Throws both a 2 seam and 4 seam both are plus pitches and has a plus slider too. Could definitely challenge Bremner and Witherspoon as top college righty.

Forbes with a good outing today vs. U Illinois-Chicago. 6 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 9 K

The run was from a single, two stolen bases and a passed ball. Him getting through the 6th and getting up to 104 pitches is a good sign. He also k'd 2 in the 6th including his final batter.

Marek Houston with a HR, 2 doubles and a sb today
Gavin Kilen with another HR
Top of the draft is starting to look insane.

and LaViolette picked a good week to get hot. 3 Runs, HR, 4 RBI game tonight. That goes well with his good midweek game. He was struggling entering this week

There's a lot of highly regarded HS shortstops in this class. And the College shortstops are doing very well, too.
Marek Houston, WF
Wehiwa Aloy, Arkansas
Aiva Arquette, Oregon State
Dean Curley, Tennessee
I'm sure I'm missing a few, but it's SS heavy draft for sure. Totally opposite from last year.

David in to pitch in the 5th inning today with 1 on and 1 out. Game is tied 2-2. Cade Campbell 2 for 3 in the game with a double, he’s been their best hitter so far. Gave up a first pitch single to the first batter and got next 2 batters to fly out.

1 2/3 IP, 4H, 4 R, 2 BB, 0 K, 1 WP. Tough game for David Shaw.

Marek Houston hit his 7th HR today, 33rd RBI. 2nd only to Justin Lebron (Univ. of Alabama) in RBIS, who has 42 RBI, 10 HR (still playing in the 6th inning for 'Bama)
I don't know if Lebron is draft eligible or not...20 y.o. Sophomore, non-redshirt.

Crav - my top 4 stand out to me above others in Arnold, dude from A&M, Holliday, Bremer and then others sneaking up such as Cannarella. Who is your 5th prospect or range from 5-7. Does Marek warrant convo in this? He had a solid season last year.

Not this year unfortunately. Next years draft is looking really good for college hitters
