I think it can be safely said that the Home Run Derby didn't do Walker any good.

I think sometimes people forget that batters fail 60-70% of the time
...Exactly..! Batters make far more mistakes than fielders, but fielders are expected to be perfect. In Noot's defense, that was an outstanding catch he made, and his throw back to the infield, though a little late, was bobbled by the infielder, which cost a little more time.

Herrera dropped his trade value after that weak fly ball. Nobody will want him. Should they just DFA him outright? 😂

Nootbaar with a gutless at bat

Your 5 hitter takes a center cut FB 2-0 right down the middle

Get this clown off the roster

He’s a class clown who has made a fool of himself today

After his big hit last night, Herrera has killed two rallies in his last two at bats. Swung at first pitch both times on pitches he had little chance to do anything with. Noot just sucked again. Probably prayed for a walk that didn’t come. Team is really bad in the clutch.

Last 92 PA

.128 .165 .233 .397

Soo glad Oli's happy with his "work"
Has been hitting the ball pretty well lately, but not a ton of hits to show for it

9 of last 10 base hits have been 100+ exit velocity. The other was 97.5

For reference, only 4 of Walker's last 10 base hits have been 100+ exit velocity. Others were 57, 63, 83, 90, 91, 92

Only 1 of Burleson's last 10, with a bunch in the 80s

I think Church will start to find some hits soon
I know Victor Scott is only hitting .200, but he plays great defense and can steal bases. Why is Church still on the roster if Scott was relegated? I’m not saying Scott should be on MLB roster, but it just seems as though we have same results but two different outcomes.
Only 1 of Scott's last 20 base hits has been 100+ exit velocity

Church has 9 of last 10 base hits at 100+ exit velocity with the other at 97.5

Church is in a slump. Scott just isn't good
Scott is a better fielder and can steal bases. Again, I’m not arguing Scott should be moved up. I am arguing that Church has been awful for over a month and needs to not be on the MLB roster.
Scott had 9 steals with 4 caught stealing while he was up

For three months, from April 6 to July 6, Church hit .273/.319/.454/.773 (112 wRC+)

For the last three weeks, Church has been slumping, even while hitting the ball pretty hard

Either way, giving up on a rookie after a three week slump is pretty rough
I don't understand the argument for VS2; a look at numbers this season before today's game:
VS2
BA- .194 OPS- .534

Church
BA- .224 OPS- .622

As bad as Church's been slumping, he's still obviously a better option than VS2, and also has 5 stolen bases vs. Scott's 9. Church holds his own defensively too, and has hit occasional home runs. (8 so far)

Whatashame wrote: 30 Jul 2026 14:13 pm Just bone headed. You have a job that requires concentration for what, 3 hours a day, when you play. You forget how many outs there are then in your haste, you make a hurried throw and miss the cutoff man. That can’t happen. Pallante pitching his butt off and you can’t back up his effort.
Yes , it was a mental error. Yes, the games last about 3 hours for each one. We all agree it should not happen but all workers make a mental error sometime. In all my many work years I never came across a worker (player) who didn’t screw up once in a blue moon.
Anyone who says they never had a mental lapse is either lying, in denial about making a mistake or never did the job many hours.
Interesting that a mental error doesn't count as one in the box score, though.
...Noot was given an error on the throw..
