Jacob Odle ~ 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K

Chase Heath ~ 1-1, Single, PO/CS...grounder finds its way into CF. Heath has been cold since a fast start to the season the first 2 weeks. Maybe this will get him going again? Then he gets PO/CS going for 2B.
Ryan Mitchell ~ 0-0, SB, BB
Walton and Reis (in particular Reis) talked at some length about Mitchell on today's Wednesdays with Walton and Reis
what did they say?
technical stuff about his swing
better you just listen to it
was it fluffy positive? Or was it merited criticism? A lot of these Pundits do fluff stuff so they don't (bleep) off the Org. It's a fine line they must traverse.
merited critique
not necessarily critical
Reis is good
not fluffy

critique is a good thing....like I said, he's taking a lot of pitches recently...that's a start. But his entire demeanor came off as someone Overwhelmed with Pro Ball. Even in the OF...so tentative on anything infront of him.

Anyways, @82birds...I expect better from Mitchell starting by the All-Star Break...I understand it's an adjustment for him. We need to see something metrically other than walks by then....glimpse of hope is all we need :D

it twas....really good 3rd, 4th, 5th inning with the slider...or what the Announcer guy was calling a curve....it was slider, imo....anyways, the bite was really good...got 4 K's off of it that those two innings

I'm not ready to say he's going to be something, but he is one of the Cardinals minor league pitchers I am most interested to monitor this year.

I think you picked a good one....96-99 on his fastball, but he looked much better with the cutter/slider combo in the later innings, it allowed him to go 5 innings, imo...b/c he got ahead of the batters and closed them out on most 4-5 pitch counts.

Odle and staff needs to figure out how to better incorporate his Four Seamer and his less impressive Sinker into the Cutter and Slider.

Their development does well these days. I have a high level of confidence in them.
