He closed his eyes while attempting to catch the ball. Hard to catch what you don't see.
To be fair, every catcher in baseball blinks their eyes when the ball makes impact/bat swings through the zone.
It just looks like they're closing their eyes in super-slowmo. Of course, he blinked his eyes despite there being no swing which didn't look great.
when I started catching as a kid, it took me a while to keep my eyes open during a swing.. it's just natural
True. But you are (or were) taught to do so.
It's the same in hockey. Every goalie blinks when the puck makes impact or is deflected right in front of them. It's just the body's way of protecting itself. It looks bad in super-slowmo but in fact it's a nanosecond that their vision is actually impaired.
Just blink your eyes right now you don't miss anything. lol

I realize that this is the MLB thread but Memphis was down 7-0 after the top of the 5th.
It is now 8-7 Memphis in the bottom of the 6th inning after a barrage of 5 walks, 5 singles, 1 double and a HR from the Memphis bats.

Sadly, now Memphis is down 10-8 in the 7th as Weiss walks 2 guys and then gives up a HR in the 7th.

so does Romero get the 8th and 9th, or do they go to O'Brien?
Since Romero threw 24 pitches in the 8th, I'd guess it will be O'Brien in the 9th.
