More walks than K's at AAA...at least he didn't give up a HR tonight. AAA opponents are hitting his fastball at a 1.000 OPS clip. Writing is on the wall for him like it was for Graceffo. The high WHIP doesn't play as a starter.

That is probably true, however, when looking at the other starters, none of them have pitched much past 4 innings, maybe 5. It seems more like an organizational thing. Not sure why they are using that strategy.

Ok, I get that, and if that’s how he’s been pitching , then he probably isn’t a starter moving forward. But, what about the other starters? Are they having high pitch counts in 5 innings or less too? I guess I need to look at their stats more closely. It just seems that their manager has a quick hook too!

Which starters? AAA starters? Wilkerson and Taylor usually go deep in games. Bedell is coming off several injuries, so he's on a PC.

Mautz, Hansen, and Henderson usually go 5-7 IP in Springfield.

Most of the pitchers at Peoria stink, so they don't go far b/c they can't. Molina went 5 IP the other night, 9 K's. Dohm is on PC b/c of injuries. Davis is their best starter, he goes around 5 IP mostly...but he walks too many once he gets to 55-60 pitches (3rd time through), and usually gets himself removed b/c of escalated PC.

Sequera keeps going far into games with PMB.

A couple of records Springfield is going for tonight....1) Franchise Record in wins, if they win tonight, they'll have 80 wins, beating their record from 2024....with 11 games to play . Perhaps the greatest Minor League team in Cards History.

2) this one has generated this game....most K's by the Pitching staff in a game....19 K's is the record...they're at 13 with 3 innings left....tall order, but they could reach it, maybe even break it.

I forgot about Mathews....when he's not walking people early in the game, he usually goes 5-6 IP. That's more miss than hit this season, but he enjoyed a much better August. Hopefully September is kind to him as well

Davis gave another good effort on a hard liner into LCF...just missed on a dive attempt as the ball one hops over the wall. His route running is probably the best in the minors. Not the fastest, but he's fast, extremely talented on reading balls off the bat.
