his foot has more hits than his bat the last few weeks

and Noot is extremely overmatched. Sit him....swings at the same junk 3 times in a row

Massive fail there. 5 base runners and 0 runs vs a CY candidate. We aren’t going to get that many more chances here.

Do we have a better lead off option?

he wasn't out of the lane, stayed on the dirt.
If you were taping it, go look again.
He clearly has his left foot in the grass on 2nd step after the attempted swipe to tag Winn.
Again, the dirt or grass means nothing.
Baseline Established by Play:
The baseline isn't a fixed, pre-determined line on the field. Instead, it's dynamically created when a fielder is attempting to tag the runner out.
Direct Path:
The baseline is a straight line between the runner's position and the base they are trying to reach when the tag attempt is made.
3-foot Allowance:
A runner has a 3-foot allowance on either side of this straight line. They can move within this 3-foot area without being out.
Avoiding Interference Exception:
There's an exception: a runner can run outside of the baseline to avoid interference with a fielder fielding a batted ball.
Not a Physical Line:
It's important to note that the baseline isn't marked on the field. It's a concept based on the runner's position and the play being made.

Noot was pathetic in a crucial situation. Those poor AB’s will get you.

only 2 innings in, (bleep).... 3 RISP stranded

please, don't let this be one of those games where we're 11 lobs, no runs scored

...Noot got the slam...except it was his helment on the ground after the K, and not the ball in the seats... Frustration you rarely see from him. Cards have had a runner at 3B in both innings... Keep that up and they will get a run sooner or later, unless they pull a Dodger game with RISP last night... :(
