I'll be honest. I was good if they won last year, but, their fanbase was so disrespectful towards Blues fans after the offer sheets. Since just the 2000's the Edmonton Oilers have been in as many Stanley Cup finals than the following teams combined:
The St. Louis Blues
The Washington Capitals
The Utah Mammoth
The Anaheim Ducks
The Toronto Maple Leafs (now there's a suffering base if there is one in any sport currently)
The New York Islanders
The Minnesota Wild
The Winnipeg Jets
Just throwing that out there. Yes I did forget about Coffey.

As much as I would like the Cup go to a Canada, I can't root for the Oil. I don't know why, I just can't.

Kane and Perry are hard to like. It is wild seeing the torch of vicious and dirty playoff valor being passed to the next generation. And that generation is American (except for Marchand and he is older than MT and SB).Tabasco Flowers wrote: ↑07 Jun 2025 14:06 pm As much as I would like the Cup go to a Canada, I can't root for the Oil. For me it's more along the lines of what will happen with McDavid. Bouchard is set to be a UFA, they can't let him go, so they'll have to pay him 9+. Then next season McDavid is a UFA. Does he stick around to see if he can win one there or, like Lebron, say I need to join a team that is on the verge and go there for less than if I stay at Edmonton?TAFKAP wrote: ↑07 Jun 2025 13:47 pmI'll be honest. Does Bowman do the unthinkable and look to trade him? If he re-signs at 13+ he's looking at having 4 players taking up close to 50% of his cap.
I absolutely want to see all this play out, and it doesn't if they win. As far as the Lightning and the Panthers go their time in the Finals is likely over for a while so I'm no longer worried about them.

1993!
Hoping to keep this reminder alive as many years as possible.
It's the ultimate S[top] T[hose] F[raudulent] U[tterances] to Canadian hockey know-it-alls.
Might be even better than simply saying 1908 was to an a-hole Cub fan coming into STL trying to start (bleep) for years at a Cardinals game (unfortunately that ended too soon).
USA! USA! USA!

I never got the nationalism in the NHL. There's 5 Americans on the Blues. 5. There's 12 Canadians on the roster, Head Coach, Full Coaching Staff (except Weber), GM/President, GM in waiting. It's really kinda silly. I get international competitions, just not the NHL.FunSeeker wrote: ↑07 Jun 2025 17:21 pm 1993!

I totally get Canada wanting the Cup back home for the first time in decades, but I don’t get the flip side at all. It’s mostly Canadian dudes playing anyway.TAFKAP wrote: ↑07 Jun 2025 17:36 pmI never got the nationalism in the NHL. There's 5 Americans on the Blues. 5. This is nuts.
A client of mine road manages Coldplay. He got me tickets for Coldplay at Allegiant Symradium in Vegas. It’s a good four hour drive from Upland, butt the seats are awesome.
Just before the Coldplay boys walked out a group of young athletes with dates and wives sat in front of us . They looked like hockey players.

The concert was uplifting and well done. We didn’t bug the boys in front but when they left a few songs before the end, Stone and a guy I cannot name shook my hand as I was wearing my Blues Baseball jersey. They were warm and enthusiastic especially after the beautiful music. Hockey players are the best handshakers and they always look you in the eye. Stone was the last to get to the stairs and he turned back and grinned as be bellowed “Thanks for Alex Pietrangelo!”.

When is the last time the US men won a best on best and beat Canada?
You cheer for Canadians every day. You sound conflicted.

When the Canadian fans boo my national anthem. F them. Nothing to do with the players at all. As I said USA all the way. Dont want Canadian fans winning anything.TAFKAP wrote: ↑07 Jun 2025 17:36 pmI never got the nationalism in the NHL. There's 5 Americans on the Blues. 5.
