If both Gorman and Walker hit 30 homeruns this season the Pirates would still laugh if this trade was proposedShady wrote: ↑07 May 2025 16:02 pmVery good points.slimjay63801 wrote: ↑07 May 2025 15:55 pmI think you would need to throw in a couple "Wetherholts" to even start a convo for Skenes... Were talking about a generational type pitcher here. The ask would be more than the Cards would be willing to give up.Shady wrote: ↑07 May 2025 15:51 pmI don't disagree. Depends on how the Pirates see Walker and Gorman, long-term. Obviously, right now, it would be a reach for them.slimjay63801 wrote: ↑07 May 2025 15:48 pmNot a lot of wiggle room there. Gorman 2nd or 3rd. Walker in RF. Can't use them for DH. Neither hit above .190... There's just not enough value there to bring back even a high prospect Shady, much less to get Skenes.Shady wrote: ↑07 May 2025 15:44 pmMaybe the Pirates would utilize Walker and Gorman differently.slimjay63801 wrote: ↑07 May 2025 15:42 pmWalker and Gorman would be replacing Hayes at 3rd and Reynolds at RF.. So the answer is yes, the Cards would but the Rats would laugh hysterically at the proposal.Shady wrote: ↑07 May 2025 15:39 pmCould be. Who really knows how the Pirates value Walker and Gorman? They may see them as potential power-hitting fixtures in their lineup for the next ten seasons. Long after Skenes has moved on. There is a difference between CT posters rationale and professional baseball evaluators'.Adam2 wrote: ↑07 May 2025 15:11 pmI did see his post. If they did trade him it would be for a fair package. Your package is like trading Ken Griffey Jr. in his second year (like Skenes) for under performing first round picks in Griffey's second year (1990) Erick Christopherson and Lance DicksonShady wrote: ↑07 May 2025 14:57 pmWhatever. But not too long ago Walker and Gorman were two of the hottest prospects in baseball. And Pittsburgh needs position players. Also, they will not likely be able to keep Skenes. If somebody is open-minded, this may not be as far-fetched as some may think. Considering the long term implications. Check out Quincy Varnish's post.Adam2 wrote: ↑07 May 2025 14:45 pmthe fact you even proposed this as a hypothetical IS THE PROBLEM. It shows your drastic lack of baseball acumen and knowledge. If you threw out a trade that even 1 GM in the history of major league baseball would consider for more than 1.5 seconds sure, maybe make a thread about it. but not 1 GM in the history of the sport would look at this trade and not laugh at you
I'm similar to the previous poster in that i've had some fair back and forth with you about Burleson for example. But this...come on man. i can no longer take you seriously on any post
Why not bring up something semi reasonable instead of something stupid.Shady wrote: ↑07 May 2025 15:33 pmWhy be a jerkwadd? It's just baseball talk. I just remember that not too long ago both Walker and Gorman were highly rated prospects. Were they not?HorseTrader wrote: ↑08 May 2025 14:14 pmWhy not bring up something semi reasonable instead of something stupid.Shady wrote: ↑07 May 2025 15:33 pmWhy be a jerkwadd? Throw in Arenado and they might consider it.Shady wrote: ↑08 May 2025 17:22 pm So Walker and Gorman for Skenes is considered out of the question. Then what, realistically, could a Walker/Gorman package bring? Give an example or two of what kind of return the Cardinals could get for Walker and Gorman, together, in a deal. Rafael Devers maybe? Come on, peanut gallery GMs. Let's see what you got.
Not proposing this trade just throwing it out there:Futuregm2 wrote: ↑07 May 2025 14:19 pmShady wrote: ↑07 May 2025 14:10 pmPlease try to decipher that I didn't propose this trade. Shady I have tried to come to your defense many times as you often get bashed by the CT Bully Patrol. I will continue to do so, but dude I have to tell you that you have it coming with this thread. You are WAY WAY off on this one. Be better man!![]()

don't forget roddery munoz -- the next great cy young pitcher... i don't think the pirates could contain themselves if he was included.JohnnyMO wrote: ↑08 May 2025 17:46 pmThrow in Arenado and they might consider it.Shady wrote: ↑08 May 2025 17:22 pm So Walker and Gorman for Skenes is considered out of the question. Interesting. Thanks for participating. Wonder where the Bully Patrol gang are. They are pretty creative when harassing me. Maybe they can demonstrate some of that creativity in regards to this. Saggese, Gorman, and McGreevy for Ohtani.

best answer out of 90ScotchMIrish wrote: ↑08 May 2025 12:43 pmOnly if the Pirates hire Mozeliak or LaRussa to be general manager or club president.

The Pirates aren't going anywhere for a while. If they feel Walker and Gorman have outstanding potential. The Walker/Gorman for Skenes may not be as ridiculous as some are making it out to be. Criticizing is easy. Let's see their suggestions.Cusecards wrote: ↑08 May 2025 18:13 pmHere’s my serious answer:Shady wrote: ↑08 May 2025 18:08 pmInteresting. Thanks for participating. As of today has one more year(2026) before he reaches Arbitration(3 years).
That makes him a free agent in 2030.
It it true that based on Skenes career projection the Pirates will not be able to keep him.
But.....I would say that they have time to move him.
