May
21 PA

BUT

Mar/Apr
91 PA
0 HR
6 RBI
.259 .308 .294 .602
I wouldn't say a .286 OBP in May is "coming alive." I wish him well, but of all the young players, he is my least favorite.
So you prefer Gorman over Burleson as hitters?
IMO, Gorman has a higher upside that he has yet to reach, and he may never. Burleson has a lower ceiling that can be replaced by a more versatile athlete.
For whatever the main reasons, the Cardinals really seem to like Burleson.
This offseason it won't matter what Mo and Oli think of him. Mo will be out and Bloom will want his own manager. Bloom has no attachment to anyone on the roster except maybe Liberatore and I wouldn't be surprised to see two out of Gorman, Walker, and Burleson gone.

Could happen. I wonder how Bloom feels about Saggese.

He's young, promising, and inexpensive so Bloom probably likes him. The DeWitts too.

Burleson has to hit with power to bring any value to a team

He is not a good runner and can only play 1B

Not a fan either but the .600 slg%/.886 OPS tops the OB%

Or he has to channel a little of Luis Arráez in his production.

A really good example, at least in my opinion, is Allen Craig in STL. Low walk rate, but high hit total and good power.

Burley is a Moe kind of guy. A power hitter with 2 HRs in 108 ABs in 2025. Those kind of guys don’t grow on trees, you know.

Where you are correct, he only needs to
out hit the 2 that aren't hitting and he's
the best 1B on the 26.

He could channel a man on the current team. He won't because he sees
himself with more power. Backup OF/1B if he did.

You referring to Donovan? If so, yeah, good thinking.

I was.
And he'd be a bit better for it.
He'd still have a bit more power than BD but without the versatility.

Now in defense of Burleson, What's the general market for BD without positional
versatility? I still like it but does it play for a 1B/DH on many MLB teams?
He'd shrink his job opportunities is my guess.
