If current performances continue I'm fairly certain the Cardinals will be drafting either Jamie Arnold or Liam Doyle.

Patrick Forbes is another pitcher to keep an eye on. Second year as a full time pitcher and 1st as a starter. Has absolutely electric stuff and has shown much improved control so far this year. Has the flat VAA fastball that the Cardinals have shown an affinity for in recent years. Throws both a 2 seam and 4 seam both are plus pitches and has a plus slider too. Could definitely challenge Bremner and Witherspoon as top college righty.

craviduce wrote: 18 Feb 2025 14:42 pm Note ~ I compiled the opening weekend stats for the consensus Top 40-50 college players....pulled from 4 draft boards....covers Top 100-125 prospects. I have no HS players listed. 90% haven't started their season, so there's no use listing them at this time.

I had this done yesterday and saved, was ready to post this morning, but I realized I didn't list how the players bat...when I got home a few hours ago, I went back and entered in their Batting Side (LHB or RHB or S-BOTH). If I missed 1 or 2, I apologize

Also, the reason for the long list: we have 4 picks in the first 90 on day 1 of the draft. These names will likely be picked on Day 1 of the draft....some will fall out, but most will stick.

Enjoy. I'll try to update this once a month, and if I missed anyone, or if there's a player or 3 you want me to track on here, I will definitely do it. :D

Nice work Crav. I have a question. What are your thoughts on Pierce Coppola? He had one of the most dominant starts I saw. 12 K’s in 5 innings with 2 base runners given up vs Air Force. Looks like he’s had injury issues, maybe healthy?
Coppola followed up last weeks effort with another nice showing. 5 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 8 K
Looks like a normal season for Coppola, he left Saturday’s start in the 3rd inning with an injury. One of BA’s college reporter said his FB velo was upper 80s before leaving with the injury. Haven’t seen any updates yet though on him.

Especially considering his inexperience pitching. Here's some video of his 1st start this year vs Texas. I think it was below 40 degrees this game too.https://youtube.com/shorts/8nqDPeRM6UI? ... F0YPJQnau9

At this point the player that intrigues me most is Arquette out of Oregon State. I see a potential all star third baseman there with decent power. Cards could use another fast rising position player especially one that hits right handed.

FYI, Fangraphs now has a college leaderboard, they put it out there on Monday apparently. You can go back to 2021 and going forward. And they have stats like wRC+ and FIP among others.

ACC play starts this weekend for about 2/3 of the teams.

SEC play starts next weekend.

I had these flipped in an early post on this thread, my apologies for the wrong info.

good matchups Duke vs. Cal (Shaw gets some good competition on Friday night :D ) ; Notre Dame vs Wake Forest; Stanford vs. UNC

an Ethan Holliday moment from earlier this week

nice Oppo Double into LF to plate the 1st run.

https://x.com/PrepBaseballOK/status/1897062960570491333

he's hitting much better than his team is performing in 3 games.... I don't have complete stats on him, but the from muddled/incomplete box scores, He's had several XBH. He's still playing SS, which a contrast from his Fall Ball games when he played 3B.
