Including the drops, FP has sdaltons getting 29 VORP (Jones, Kim, Paxton, MacArthur) and losing 37 VORP (Albies, Pivetta, Sears, Florio).
Well your offer was gone so
I was unable to make an offer. I kept getting the:

sdaltons has the max pending trades allowed. (Error #183)

message.

But I did PM you an initial thought to build off of.

Weren’t you in 13th place a few weeks ago? Maybe you should be reevaluating how you consider your own players (and trade offers) with the imaginary VORP system.

I'm just reporting the news per FP. I'm just saying, you apparently did a very good job in selling that deal.

Kim is certainly a decent piece, but he's a "you know what he is" guy who probably doesn't have a ton of untapped upside.

Oh yeah I guess I was thinking of the PM. Two managers wanted him badly enough to send several different proposals each lol. And then I figured I had kept people waiting long enough so it was time to resolve this so I went through the proposals I had, independent of the manager making the offer, and this one made the most sense.

Well, hopefully Paxton continues to keep getting by on smoke and mirrors for you (he currently has a 3.63 ERA vs. a 4.63 xERA and 4.94 WHIP). If he finds a way to hold up, that should help.

I've been offering deals at a substantial loss. Don't know that there is much more to be done.

I've got offers out right now to give up 13 VORP to get 7, to give up 13 to get 12, and to give up 36 to get 33.

I did decline one that wanted me to give up 46 VORP (Yahoo ROS #70, 112, 303, and 982 (Ramos)) for 36 VORP (Yahoo ROS #221, 274, 278, 1100).

I suppose it’s a fine system to evaluate total value or fairness of a trade, but ultimately VORP isn’t going to have much influence on how it helps you (or someone else) in the standings.

Sdaltons is essentially upgrading 3 roster spots by replacing Albies with a player that’s outperformed him thus far. There’s no doubt that Albies has a higher ceiling… but I am taking the gamble that he reaches it, and selling off what was left of my projected Saves and SBs. Seems like you should be elated.

Maybe, but like you, I'm expecting Albies to be a lot better going forward. But Pivetta is also a good piece, plus you get two open roster spots, which is also valuable and where you are likely to make most of your profit.

Basically, from your end, FP had Albies/Pivetta for Jones/Kim/Paxton/MacArthur as a wash (29 VORP to 28 VORP), but the two extra roster spots for you to add to (you can pick up 12-15 VORP pretty easily there) is the value. You can find 7 (Dylan Moore), 8, 9 (McCutchen) VORP guys off waivers.

I would just decline any deal from you that tries to offer me quantity over quality. ::crazya::

At least your Garcia/Webb for Lindor/Hamilton/Montgomery/Weathers trade had you giving up 40 to get 31, but again the two open roster spots would even it out.

I perhaps should have also pointed out, over the last month:

Kim - Yahoo ranked #249 - .216 BA, .718 OPS, 12 R, 3 HR, 13 RBI, 4 SB
Gurriel - Yahoo ranked #202 - .295 BA, .762 OPS, 9 R, 4 HR, 16 RBI, 0 SB

So Gurriel > Kim in four of six categories

I unfortunately offered Gurriel for Paddack before his last two bad starts, or I never would have done that deal.

Well, fortunately, although Gurriel is 13 VORP (Kim is 12) as noted I can probably at least drop Paddack and find a 9 or 10 VORP replacement (maybe better), so replacing most of it is likely.

I've already picked up Lodolo, Happ, Waldron, Fry, Ramos, Ortiz, O'Hearn, Soriano, etc. (all in the Yahoo Top 200 for the year) when nobody else wanted them.

I suppose you’ll win the VORP race that involves no other interested competitors.
