What error?

You should be able to counteroffer w/ anything. If the receiving team does not have enough roster spots, they will be asked to drop a player as a condition of accepting the trade.

Typically the only times you get an error message from Yahoo are a) you’re trying to trade a player that’s already scheduled to be dropped, or b) you have a player that needs to be moved off of the IL.

So the deal was:

Team 1
Player A
Player B
Player C (on IL)

for

Team 2 (say this is me)
Player X
Player Y
Player Z (on IL)

And it kept giving me "would exceed maximum roster size" as an error and not allow the trade to be proposed.

So it seemed to be saying that, if the trade went through, Player C (who was on other team's IL) would have to land on my active roster before I could place them on IL to take the IL spot being vacated by Player Z (who was currently on my IL).

Since I think the other team already had an open roster spot, I just reduced the trade down to:

Team 1
Player A
Player B

for

Team 2 (say this is me)
Player X
Player Y
Player Z (on IL)

So I wasn't getting back Player C and it went through.

This must have been w/ the Fantasy Pros app, I’d guess?

With the Yahoo app, you can offer any number of players for a single player. If the other manager accepts, they designate which players will be dropped when the trade is completed.

It can complicate things if your active roster size changes after a trade is proposed.

But since we just executed a trade, I figured a work around. I took Kelly off the IL and put Rodgers on it so I could send:

Happ + Kelly to Whatashame for Assad + Morel

So with Happ, Kelly, Assad, and Morel all on our active rosters, it went through.

That’s weird. If you were offering a number of players that would push the other team over the limit, there shouldn’t be an error. Maybe try it as a new offer, instead of a counteroffer?

I'll test it again. I'm going to try to send a trade to you:

Alvarez + deGrom (IL) for Dubon + Rodriguez (IL)

And it did not go through. It gave me:

This move will put you 1 over max roster size. (Error #175)

It doesn't let me offer because it says the trade will put me one over the limit. That must be because it sees me as losing just one player from my active roster (Dubon) and picking up two players who will have to land on my active roster (Alvarez and deGrom) before I can put deGrom on my IL.

Maybe there is a setting which has to be selected to have players in trades go directly to the IL if they are eligible?

I’ll look into it. Think I already made the only possible adjustment to assist in handling IL players, but maybe I missed something.

Ideally, we could trade IL players from one team’s IL to another… not sure that’s possible w/ Yahoo.

If not, then it is just something to know when figuring out what trades you can make. Until I thought to flip Kelly and Rodgers between the active roster and IL, I thought I might have to just drop Hudson or Dubon to make the one open spot I needed.

But I've gone back to find I'd already missed out as the other person has moved on multiple times.

I looked over the commish settings again, and there isn’t anything that would allow for that. There’s a setting that allows us to add players on waivers directly to the IL, which I added before we drafted… that’s it.

Since it seems we may have an endless flow of trades in progress, I’m going to change the waiting period to 2 days on Monday regardless of what’s being processed.

I’m considering lowering the number of votes required to veto, but we’ll put it to a vote during the ASB.

I was likely going to accept, or at least counter, the Lindor offer. Then it was gone. It just all moves too fast. This is likely to be my only year in this league.

I’m very sorry to hear that. May I ask why?

I tend to move quickly when I’ve decided to move a player. When I don’t get feedback… not knowing if I’m even on the right track with a trade target, I move on. Others like to take their time - nothing wrong with that.

I haven't had as much time to spend on this as I would have liked so each time I receive a trade offer I sit on it until I have time to give it some real attention. But I've gone back to find I'd already missed out as the other person has moved on multiple times.

That being said, several people have been trying to get Albies from me and I've sort of dug in my feet and held firm on not moving him. Probably time to change that though.
If you decide to trade Albies, I'd make you an offer.
Good luck. I’ve already offered all the players.
I was likely going to accept, or at least counter, the Lindor offer. Then it was gone. It just all moves too fast. This is likely to be my only year in this league.

I'm just getting the feeling that my approach doesn't really fit well lol. Maybe it feels a little more competitive and less relaxed than I was thinking. But it's really all on me for not having the time to make a commitment.

And I don't take trading someone like Albies lightly. So I'll read the offer, think about it for awhile, decide I'm on board, then come back and it's gone. Idk just kind of discouraging.
