Just seeing this. Holy (bleep)! If I’m Grier in San Jose and it being past July 1st, I’m literally throwing a lot at Celebrini right now and hoping like hell he extends. This is a game changer for the best of the best young players. Army did it with guys who had yet to put up big numbers. Every young star just took notes with their agents.

I'm hoping the Ducks don't match. Wouldn't that be something? Plus now, they're going to have to offer Gauthier the remaining $17m of their cap space.
Takes all the responsibility for his season too, but he got a raw deal. He wasnt the first. The GM really took a bunch of players that played for each other, great friends, and shipped them out.
I'm so happy the Blues landed so many of the ex Ducks. And their ex coach too.
But hey, at least the Ducks had 34+ year old Granlund, Krieder, Killorn, and Trouba (b4 he went to SJ) in place, right? Bunch of old dudes instead of McT, Zegras, RJ, and Fowler. Now Leo Carlsson?
That would be something if the Ducks don't match. They're right back to being in a full rebuild if they let him go. A warning shot for rebuilding teams - don't cash in too soon and never get rid of the players that actually care. Sign the young guys to reasonable contracts and let them focus on the hockey.

? I was genuinely asking because to me they would have taken even less for McTavish now. They would have had to get rid of him by any means just to pay these RFAs now. Not saying we could have gotten him for free but…maybe for next year’s 1st only or something. Although this seemed like a fairly weak draft to me overalldhsux wrote: ↑03 Jul 2026 15:09 pmtouche!!stryker16 wrote: ↑03 Jul 2026 15:08 pmYou mean McTavish or you mean the offer sheets for Broberg and Holloway two years ago?dhsux wrote: ↑03 Jul 2026 14:37 pmMakes you appreciate what DA pulled off even more, if possible.DyadicEffect wrote: ↑03 Jul 2026 14:29 pm I wonder with the cap going up and moves like this if we are going to see GMs be a little more cut throat with their RFA offers?

The TSN comments on their facebook page overwhelmingly lead towards letting him go for the picks. Lot of Flyers fans saying they hope Anaheim matches.

Anaheim already was lacking for depth. 3 really good to great young forwards and then a major drop off, especially with the Terry injury.xweazel75 wrote: ↑03 Jul 2026 15:49 pmI did listenzamadoo wrote: ↑03 Jul 2026 15:21 pmNot sure if you got the chance to listen to McTavish's interview that was posted, but he was asked about Zegras and said something to the effect of being his 'best friend' and how he's happy for how it worked out for him.

Old guys as you mentioned in Granlund, Kreider, & Killorn in their top 6.
Look at their trash bottom 6 forwards and RHD
The Ducks are going to have to weather the storm for a year before they can get Kreider & Killorn off the books.
The problem is they don't necessarily have prospects to fill those holes right away.
Assuming Mintyukov continues to get better and Solberg is as advertised, at least they'll be set at LHD for some time.
Verbeek might have to package McQueen with Killorn (salary dump) to improve the team.

My comment was made regarding the Offer Sheet with Edmonton. But for me your comment is valid for a DA feather too ....to have gotten the McTavish deal in before these new numbers are now showing up. This Carlson deal has all existing/older boats rising.

Or maybe they’d want to hang onto McTavish and consider letting Carlsson go. All of a sudden, McTavish making $7M/year sounds really reasonable! Doubt it but it would’ve been an option for them.stryker16 wrote: ↑03 Jul 2026 16:09 pm? I was genuinely asking because to me they would have taken even less for McTavish now. Also, Verbeek only did the trade since the guy they really wanted, Kelpov, was still available at 15. A TBD 2027 1st wouldn’t mean nearly as much to them as 100% getting the guy they wanted in this draft. The deal was likely then or never.
And also, other teams would also still be after McTavish too. Lessen our offer too much and then it’s not the best offer anymore and we don’t get the player.

Parayko to Ducks for one of the 4 first they get if they don’t match?

Re: Leo Carlsson Offer Sheet
This is all pretty fascinating to me. I’m just glad the Blues have around $21m coming off the books next year with Binner, Krug, Suter, Carlo, and a couple lesser guys like Dube and Tucker.
Blues will have quite a few key RFAs to sign with Snuggs, Neighbours, Hofer, and Mailloux, so they will want to have a mountain of space. Then hope that guys in the minors are ready to step up and fill some of those vacated roles from above.

Possibly. Not claiming buyers remorse either but I think McTavish was going no matter what. But I agree they wanted a certain guy (Klepov) as they said. I just think with McTavish there still they’d be in even more of a bind IMOSTL fan in MN wrote: ↑03 Jul 2026 16:19 pmOr maybe they’d want to hang onto McTavish and consider letting Carlsson go. And the cap is going up like another $10M too, right?TruBlueFan_1970 wrote: ↑03 Jul 2026 17:04 pm This is all pretty fascinating to me. I’m just glad the Blues have around $21m coming off the books next year with Binner, Krug, Suter, Carlo, and a couple lesser guys like Dube and Tucker.

One big difference between #Flyers offer sheet of Shea Weber in 2012 and Leo Carlsson in 2026 is the massive cash up front isn’t poisonous for Anaheim like it was for Nashville.
The belief was Preds needed a cash call from their large ownership partners to match Weber signing bonuses. It was stressful to pay that much in such a short period of time, and beautifully designed to hit that pressure point.
Henry Samueli is now one of the wealthiest owners in the #NHL. If it’s a question for #FlyTogether to match, it’s about team cap structure and little more.
It’s also a reminder for the Ducks that negotiating as hard as they typically do - grinding every player to a stump with their leverage - might feel good in the moment, but could cost you dearly in the long run. The best way to not be subject to an offer sheet is to get the player signed last summer or in the middle of last season. Because even if they’re keeping Carlsson, their future is jammed up with the highest paid player in the league (AAV) in key RFA years where had Verbeek/Solomon swallowed hard and “overpaid” it would still be paltry to $18 mil.
What’s that saying? Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
