I didn't care for 16 either but lets be honest the level of failing to predict futures at that range is huge anyway. I don't mind them going off the board if they think they see something there and I think they have earned the benefit of the doubt.

Of course being very happy with 11 and 15 probably helps me be ok with 16
#16 for a 2C with term is a no brainer didn't cost any prospects already picked Lawrence. Now it's on MM to train hard and come and play. He's been given a chance to make his mark and my guess he will. What does success look like l? 25 goals 60 pts is my expectations
I think you have a reading problem today.

I'm sure its been a tough day trying to switch between hating these things to liking them because the Blues did them.
Yea your right when I was able to read WHY the Blues made the moves and how they view the picks and players it made sense to me. I am comfortable with the fact that they know McT the man more than you for instance do so now I see upside in having the kid in STL. At first I did not like hearing, slow, not in shape, didn't work out for Q then I did deeper dives. Get it yet? But I'm not going anywhere we'll check back on this when the season starts
Glad to see you being open minded, I still don't understand your response to my post.

Just seemed like you were arguing with me that is a no brainer today while I thought it was a no brainer all along and yesterday you thought it was terrible.

Its amazing the amount of posters who think they can prognosticate what a 21,22-23 yr old player is ultimately gonna be and unfortunately time and time again they turn out be complete (donkey) hats

Yea initially i was shocked to see two firsts go to ANA in the deal my impressions were effort issues under coach Q, getting benched, possibly overweight. Then i dug in a little read Armys comments heard from the player so i probably jumped off too early i was thinking it would cost the Blues #16 and maybe a lower level prospect. Ultimately if MM comes in and works hard it could be a very good trade. The scouting reports from his draft discuss his elite skill level which was sorely lacking for the Blues

MacTavish has shown flashes of top‑six potential, but he’s not yet a proven centerpiece. His production curve (roughly 45–55‑point range) and inconsistent play‑driving metrics make him more of a developmental bet than an established star. Giving up two firsts for that profile feels steep unless St. Louis believes he’ll blossom into a 70‑point, two‑way leader within two seasons.

Its a bit of a gamble but MM is a lock for 50 pts this is the floor for him. Hes 23 he has 181 NHL pts, for reference by the same age Thomas had 169 pts with 8 more games played. The inconsistancy issues from MM under Q are a concern, he doesnt skate as well I like for a center that cost two 1sts and with Dalibor that is a very mediocre skating center group after Thomas. The upside though is MMs skill level he will have worked hard this summer hes coming in with a chip on his shoulder and now he has a reasonable salary. At the worst MM is a very capable 2C who brings a ton of skill to the Blues but the upside is very high. My biggest worry is who are MMs wingers in the short term, Neighbours and Buch? Blues are light on skill right now after dealing Kyrou. Carbonneau is likely coming '27 maybe another trade is made idk but if there is no one to finish MM's passes then his numbers wont be as big. Neighbours is a 25 goal guy maybe Buch can rebound with MM in the middle. The PP and OT should be a lot better which will equal wins

We gave up 2 firsts for a center who can't play defense. Could have had Dorofeyev instead. Over the last week, we have acquired 4 centers. No team needs that many centers.

We better be dealing one or 2 of them for Werenski....

Putting the wrong person in the 2C role is a 3+ year trudge down the wrong path. For Army, it covers the previous 3+ year trudge down the wrong path known as Dvorsky.

The only positive is for Army and Steen. The FOCUS will now be on MacTavish instead of Dvorsky--where it should be. It "hides" the Dvorsky mistake for another couple years, and 2 years from now, no one will even remember Dvorsky.

Sad sad hockey in St Louis.

The good thing is, Blues have a top5 pick. jerseys will be sold. championships will be won.

glorious day and hockey ahead for STL and their jersey sales.
