No, you’re thinking of when he played Westport Playhouse. I was at both shows. I remember when he was introducing Ridin the Storm Out he said “This is the only song I wrote that wasn’t about a girl!”blues2112 wrote: ↑20 Feb 2026 18:39 pmWas the stage a revolving turntable?leedog68 wrote: ↑19 Feb 2026 18:14 pm I was a huge REO fan also. You Get What You Play For is one of my all time favorite albums. I saw them for the first time at Super Jam 77 at Busch Stadium. My first concert. And several times after that. I saw Gary with his band Richrath at the Big Kahuna, a bar at Page and Schuetz for free and enjoyed it much more than any time I saw REO without him. I hate Cronin for ruining the mighty Speedwagon with his drivel. I did love his singing on the live album and the studio albums leading up to Hi Infidelity.
If so, I was there!

Gary Moore was definitely amazing! Michael Schenker is still fantastic live! Paul Gilbert will be in town in a few months and he is such a talent. I really like how none of his albums sound the same. Some have vocals, some are intstrumental, some our blues based, some rock, some shred, some classic rock, pop, Zappa vibe, whatever ever he decided to do that year. Last but not least. the amazing Jason Becker!

Ok, so t seems some of you are into the guitar. Do you even know of the greatest guitar player of all time? If you don't know of Tommy Emmanuel, look him up.

Do you know who Tommy Emmanuel is? Not from any band. About 70 years old. Australian fellow that plays acoustic guitar. It is really a shame that so few know him. I discovered him on a PBS show about 15 years ago and still freak out when I see him play. Have seen him live about 10 times, and one man with an acoustic guitar has you on the edge of your seat waiting to give yet another standing ovation the entire evening.

I doubt I've ever heard the "greatest guitar player if all time," same for any other instrument. Why? They rarely get popular exposure.
Of course, there's a Venn diagram that includes skill and popular/commercial digestibility. In that space, I'd put Steve Morse, Larry Carlton and Alex Lifeson.
