Stockpiling a bunch of pitchers. The Minor League system was woefully short.
Hitters are a dime a dozen to find.
Really?
lol
Wasn’t easy for the Cards to find
Are they a dime a dozen? No, but they're usually better investments than pitchers. This is the right way to go about the rebuild.
Why are they a better investment- durability. Injury composition?
Pitchers are expensive and get hurt and miss a lot of time.
If that’s true, then you probably need a lot of pitching for your roster, and as trade chips.
Stockpiling pitching is the way to go now…

Patience, kid. We've got a couple of years to build up the offense.

If you truly believe that, then why are you so upset about this rebuild? In what business can you take 10 years of damage and mismanagement and fix it overnight?

I don't recall saying I was upset. My problem has been it should have started 4 or 5 years ago before they lost a ton of their fan base in attendance. I felt like the signing of Lynn and Gibson was a step backwards.

100%
He's doing exactly what he set out to do, acquiring multiple arms that have BIG upside.
Not all will hit which is why, like lottery tickets, the more you acquire the better your chance of finding a gem.

When the Bloom trade adventure started this offseason the narrative was
“This is a rebuild…returning good to very good ML ready players from desirable vet trades will lead this process to a winning club by ‘27….then BDW will SPEND”
Now since we’ve seen the returns the replies are:
“What did you think we would get for a Old downside of career SP and an old 1B who used to be a C and doesn’t really produce all that good numbers”
The tone sure has turned
Perhaps Donny will save the story……
But please don’t ever mention that BDW is saving Multi Millions every time a trade headline drops.

Before Dobbins freak injury, he was pacing to have a better season than Liberatore.

You’re right, these are lotto tickets. There’s not a legit top prospect bullseyed for the top of rotation. And why the exclusive Sox partner. There are 28 other teams bounty to select from

First, there's absolutely no way to state that there's "not a top prospect bullseyed for the top of rotation" since we won't know these kids upside for at least two, maybe three years in the case of Yhoiker Fajardo who's the best shot at your TOTR starter.
Second, you need two to tango and the Red Sox seem antsy to make a deal.
Not sure there was a huge market for WillyC given the amount of money the acquiring team would have to take on.
We had people in here whining like little beetches about the Cardinals not making a trade and now they've made two, acquired young arms that may or may not pan out and sliced payroll off the books that could be used down the road when they're ready to compete.
Finally, they traded away 26 yr old S. Gray and turning 34 yrs old WillyC, not prime career players so what on earth do people think the return would be?
Those two aren't bring back a teams Top 10 prospect!
I like the trade, another arm for the 2026 rotation and a kid who could have big upside!

There weren’t 28 other teams to select from both gray and Contreras had NTC and no real desire to leave the cardinals so they were being very picky about where they would go

Did they tell you this? Both Gray and WC told you they’r only going to the SOX…. This had nothing to do with Blooms “familiarity” with the Sox

Wow, didn't realize that's why they acquired this package. They didn't "shoot for" better prospects. Goldfan, have you been in contact with the front office to give them this important information? All Cardinal players should bring back premium talent no matter their age/contract/performance. The time is now to sell Andre Pallante/JoJo Romero for Bryce Miller and Bryan Woo.

Did you not read anything about them? Or their statements? Did they tell you they would go to 28 other teams? Because I know from their own statements they were being choosy about where they would waive their NTC to go
