This is about moving Herrera to 1B.
Probably more Burleson to first
Maybe not. I think Herrera is going to be given every opportunity to show his work over the winter to improve his catching defense has legs. If it doesn’t work out, then Herrera to 1B makes a lot of sense. I have never seen Herrera as an outfield option and many don’t believe that he’s a catching option. He needs a place to play. 1B is a definite option.

This is all they can get for Contreras? Lolol
What did you think they were going to get for him lol
2 more years of probably team leading production. And some Jersey and ticket sales.
And two more years of missing the playoffs and then him leaving with nothing in return. I personally don’t care about how much money Dewitt makes form jersey and ticket sales I want to see them build a winning team again. Bernie was right about what blooms strategy would be stockpile pitching because the more you have the more chances you have of developing a good starting five and having depth in case of
Injuries I like it

Wasn’t worried about how much Bloom seems tunnel focused on the Red Sox till now.
Concerning he can’t seem to work with anyone else.
You are correct
It has been reported all along that Boston was the top player in the game for WC.
I haven't read that other teams refuse to deal with him. If what you say is fact, that is concerning.
Contreras also had a NTC and preferred to stay would waive it only for a very limited number of teams so that severely limited blooms options. Same with gray so to draw the conclusion he can’t work with anyone else from that is crazy
I have no problem with him dealing with Boston, other than, are we sure he still isn’t working for them?
I mean, Boston has a lot of good prospects and MLB ready players who are currently blocked. But we get a guy who has torn his ACL. “ twice” , and projects to be a #4, at best starter!
I can’t believe some of you people actually approve of this deal.
I’ve always been against him Trading Donovan, but now I’m terrified of what that return will look like!

1B Herrera
LF Burleson
CF Scott
RF Nootbaar
DH Walker
Is what they should do. Which means they won't.
Lots of possibilities!
They have to find a spot for Herrera’s bat so 1B is certainly an option along with LF/DH.
I’ll laugh if they wind up dealing Arenado to Boston!

He just might trade Liberatore at this rate....see what kind of prospects he can get in return...
Considering how much Tampa got in return for Shane Baz, that may not be as crazy of an idea as it sounds.

Stockpiling pitchers coming off injury with #5 SP upside.

Mo would have kept him got nothing for him and the cardinals would have still missed the playoffs the next two years with him then he would have left with nothing to show in return

Hunter Dobbins is the main piece coming back our way.
Swing man coming off an ACL tear. A solid return for our best hitter.
Tore ACL playing football in high school.
that was prior to 2019.

All of a sudden every fan in CT is an expert GM, and minor league talent scout.
If the Cards were trading for WC, would you want them to surrender a top 5 talent? ......didn't think so.
It doesn’t take an expert to see this trade is underwhelming! But since you’re such an expert I’m glad you like the deal!
Any trades for Contreras was going to be underwhelming. So what's your point?

Following an energizing walk-off win on Friday night, the Red Sox woke up on Saturday to bad news on rookie starter Hunter Dobbins. The right-hander will undergo season-ending surgery after he tore his right ACL just five outs into his start on Friday.

Fajardo looks like a pretty good get....we'll see. Not familiar with the other guys.
Yep.... Fajardo is the GEM of this trade.
We did GREAT there. Sequera, AD4, Fajardo.... very young RHP ....we need the depth. Palm Beach for all 3, with immediate promotions to Peoria...imo.
He might be 23rd in the Red Sox pipeline...but by mid summer, he'll be that or higher with the Cards. Our system is currently a bit deeper than the Sox, so I'm not sure if he lines up in our Top 30....I would be put him Top 20, imo....his K rate and control are stupendous for an 18yo

That’s always the excuse for salary dumps. We could have competed in 2027 if Bill was willing to try.
As it is we are getting back long shots and non needle moving role players. Filler and the dreaded innings eaters.
