It is a huge change in rules when it provides him and his team such a big advantage over other teams
EVERY team and EVERY player in the league can utilize this league wide rule.
No, they can't.
And you know that.
Name ONE other team who can remove a starting pitcher - but allow him to remain in the game as its leadoff hitter and #1 HR threat.
The rule was passed specifically to allow Ohtani to be taken out of a game - and yet remain in a game.
No other player in MLB history has been gifted with anything remotely similar.
If the Cardinals had a player like this, you would love it. So, get over your silly argument.
Not everyone would be happy MLB changed the rules to benefit one player and one team and give them an advantage over 29 other teams
Every move must have an equal counter move to be deemed fair. If this rule leaves the other 29 without an answer, then it’s seems unfair.

A majority of owners voted for this rule change. They didn't seem to think it was unfair. I think the original rule was unfair and that's why it was changed. Not to benefit one player. But to eliminate a penalty against that one player. If you are good enough to pitch and hit in the same game, you should be given the opportunity to do both without penalty.

And with all rule changes, some teams will benefit more than others. The larger bases and reduction in pickoff throws benefited the speedier teams right off the bat. That helps explain why a team like the Brewers could score so many runs. They were second in MLB in stolen bases.

No, it doesn't. The remedy would be when he is taken out as a pitcher, move him to right field. But as along as the DH is considered a position it is fair.

Indeed.
Ohtani might be wearing pinstripes right now if he wasn't a Dodger.
What a joke....he was clearly taken advantage of...and he's not the first superstar that it has happened to nor will be the last...

I’m confused. Dh came to nl in 2022. Ohtani was still in Al.

Mel, seriously trying to understand. Would you feel better about it if Ohtani stayed in at a postion instead and pushed that position player to the bench?

Of course not. That wouldn't be fair, either! He would take his ball and bat and go home.

It could not be more obvious just how much the Blue Jays resent the unfair advantage MLB - and umpires - give to Ohtani in ways no player in history has ever been accorded.
Clearly, they were angry about the extreme extra time given to Ohtani at the beginning of each inning - and the way in which he was obviously cheating to get extra rest (unquestionably that was planned well before the game with him starting on short rest).
Bichette was entirely justified to take "extra time" watching the flight of his homerun ball - and Ohtani knew exactly the point Bichette was making.
No doubt at all the anger toward Ohtani is what produced the short tempers in response to Gimenez being hit.
No doubt at all that the Blue Jays resent Ohtani staying in the game as a hitter.
All connected.

Got it. The Bluejays are whiners. And why wouldn't hitter get to stay in as a hitter?

Bottom line.
Jays win the series without the Ohtani Rule.

You have it backwards.
Without the rule, the Dodgers would not have been able to use Ohtani in that way.
The rule won them the WS - plain and simple.
And it was specifically created to benefit him.
This WS was therefore corrupted and tainted.
It will forever require an asterisk.
