A majority of owners voted for this rule change. They didn't seem to think it was unfair. I think the original rule was unfair and that's why it was changed. Not to benefit one player. But to eliminate a penalty against that one player. If you are good enough to pitch and hit in the same game, you should be given the opportunity to do both without penalty.
And with all rule changes, some teams will benefit more than others. The larger bases and reduction in pickoff throws benefited the speedier teams right off the bat. That helps explain why a team like the Brewers could score so many runs. They were second in MLB in stolen bases.

No, it doesn't. The remedy would be when he is taken out as a pitcher, move him to right field. But as along as the DH is considered a position it is fair.
