You have some excellent answers here, however .. Pedro Guerrero was 2nd in MVP voting his first full season in St. Louis, and was one of the best hitters in MLB that entire decade.

Strikeouts are the only glaring difference but didn’t seem to affect the bottom line much. Forsch didn’t throw to Yadi either.

Pete Guerrero carried that 1989 team. Great rbi season from him.

I really enjoyed watching John Tudor pitch, but he probably counts as a star, albeit sorta briefly... Ken Dayley was a very underrated 8th inning guy i liked. and of course the tragic downfall of the much-talented Rick Ankiel. ( He looked a lot like Blake Snell when he first arrived, then suddenly couldn't throw strikes).. as far as hitters go, David Eckstein was a very solid SS who rarely struck out, often very lengthy at bats.
