As much as I'd like to tattoo "5.1 IP" as a scarlett-letter-like branding on the jack*ss' forehead, if they're not really trying to compete in 26, I guess it doesn't matter that much.

My only concern is how fundamentally poor Oli's teams are. Oh yeah, he's also a total f'n loser, and I don't mean that in a derogatory manner.

I mean the guy has done nothing but L O S E. Don't want the loser spirit rubbing off on the young guys.

Bob39 wrote: 30 Sep 2025 11:03 am The St. Louis Cardinals are invested in Oli Marmol being the manager of the team, somewhat regardless of the results. Maybe he is just a super charming guy, maybe they fell bad about giving him a lousy roster, maybe he has incriminating pictures of Fredbird. I don't know why, but they are dedicated to keeping Oli in a way that they were not dedicated to keeping Matheny or Schildt who were both far more successful. Whether this is fair or not, I can't very well say but it is undeniably true.
Very strange. Maybe they feel sorry for the "racist attacks" he had to endure from Cardinal fans yelling into the dugout.

Yadi said that he didn't want to manage until his son graduates high school. His son graduates next year. Maybe Oli will be back next year until Molina takes over in the summer.

what has yadi done to get the job???? He's no better of a choice than Matheny was. other Cardinal coaches now have more exp and should be given a shot, before Yadi

With a lockout looming it makes no sense to put an alpha male in the room as a new coach to just have him get torn down later by the media when he was left with a rebuild team and no money being spent going into a lockout. Let Oli finish his contract then he hits the pavement. Before the lockout begins there will be a small window to get the new guy in place. Once the lockout is over the team will know who they want in place going into 2028 and spend some money again to complete the roster and start competing again. It is the true starting line for Bloom and the manager then.

Bloom intends to dump and he wants Marmol own that so he can hire his guy in a year or two.

Unfortunately i think they believe oli is a high quality manager.
It’s bad players more than anything. No manager is winning with this roster. I’m pretty neutral on Oli. One thing that can be said is each of the last two years, the team has won more games than the run differential suggests they should have won. Some of that delta has to be credited towards the manager.

Hes benefitted from good bullpen performances. They win some close games. That creates the oddity.

Yes and much of the criticism of managers, in general, has to do with bullpen management. Oli has two years of success to suggest that is a strength of his

And they no doubt lost more blowouts than they won.
