Mission complete. They finally got something right.
Marlins win! Met$ get bounced from the playoffs. The Reds get in ... and move to the back end of the draft
Cardinals slot into the 8th pick in the lottery. They could easily slide to pick 13 or 14. But have a much better chance at staying in the top 10 of the 2026 draft.

I believe the lottery will take place at the Winter Meetings in December. Only 2 teams need to get lottery above the Cardinals for them to fall to 13. Run the Tankathon simulator and see that the chances of Cardinals picking at 13 or after is much higher than 3%. I'd say it's more more like 20%+. I won't do the math.
But the fact that they have the 8th slot makes it that much more likely the stay in the top 9
