Wow, that was an awful 6th inning by Gray who had a no hitter going coming into the inning.

3 walks and 2 singles on pitches right down the middle.

Gray the worst ace in the history of Cardinal aces. So fragile. :| :|

Unbelievable. Guy has a no hitter in the 5th inning and can't even mange to get a quality start. Only this pitching staff could pull that off.

Inexcusable to walk the #8 and #9 hitters!

He closed his eyes while attempting to catch the ball. Hard to catch what you don't see.
To be fair, every catcher in baseball blinks their eyes when the ball makes impact/bat swings through the zone.

It just looks like they're closing their eyes in super-slowmo. Of course, he blinked his eyes despite there being no swing which didn't look great.
when I started catching as a kid, it took me a while to keep my eyes open during a swing.. it's just natural

Whew! The Cards escape with a 4-3 lead.

It would have been nice to get more than 4 runs with the Giants pitchers unable to find the plate for such a long time.
It would have been nice not to walk their 8 and 9 hitters immediately following the Giants implosion.

Can the Cards add on or at least hold on?

True. But you are (or were) taught to do so.

Yes, they did. You will need to average close to that if you want to be a high average ground ball singles hitter in MLB.
