Why would any GM hire 3 straight rookie managers?
What other GM would even have had the opportunity to hire 3 different managers?
Most GM-POBO’s get one chance, maybe 2 to get it right.
Also a good question. Unfortunately the answers were never about winning.
Mo's was too insecure to hire anyone who had the experience and pull to question him.
His long leash was because, as bad as the roster decision making was, he made DeWitt a lot of money.
He would have made him a lot more money if the teams went deep into October. Right?
But he got spoiled by 2006 and 2011 and thought all you have to do is squeak in and pray for miracles when 2006 was a very good team that got healthy at the right time and in 2011 he went all in for it at the deadline which is the first and only time he did that and completely revamped the roster making it a different team than the one that struggled all season. So he thought why build a good team just build one that can squeak in and hope and pray for miracles and it hasn’t worked
