Good move by Hughes leveraging D prospects after landing Dobson. We lose this trade initially -- Bolduc is on track for a 25 goal season given his trajectory. A Quebecer to boot. Faithful love this.

I absolutely hate this move. I don’t like it from a hockey perspective. Bolduc is an established NHLer while Mailloux is still trying to fully make the jump. Only played 7 games for the Canadiens this season and was caved in defensively. He’s far from a sure bet IMO. I just absolutely hate it. I know he’s a RD and that’s a more valuable position than a winger but that doesn’t make up for the gap in value IMO. They were taken in the same draft - Bolduc was taken 14 spots higher and he’s shown he should’ve gone higher to date.

And then add in the off ice baggage/PR issues they’ll now have to deal with and…yuck. I just absolutely hate it on first reaction.

I am in the "not a fan" of this trade group for sure. We are presuming Logan Mailloux will turn into something. We know what Bolduc already is, and the growth potential is significant. I get it, we were in a position where we had an abundance and a need. I get that we now have Mailloux and Dvorsky. Time will tell.

Hate giving up Bolduc, but it’s about building a TEAM. A lot of GM’s in the league collect shiny toys and have no clue how to build out a team that can win in the playoffs. The Blues had a blatant need at RHD, so if Mailloux works out, then all is good.

First reaction…not a fan…Bolduc played with an edge and found his spot in the “bumper” on the power play. A few stupid reactionary penalties in the playoffs might have cost him Monty’s backing…but…so does Buch icing the puck in the final seconds…Monty said guys need to learn to show more poise…Bolduc is young and will learn from his mistakes…Buch???

Since he came to the Blues, Buch is our leading playoff scorer and it isn't even very close.

Big RHD with some power and some offensive game. We have a glut at wing both on the big club and in the pipeline. Have to give to get.

And for the volume of complaining about Kyrou's playoff performance Boldouc basically was a shadow of his regular season self and he took several really stupid penalties. I'll give him the rookie benefit of the doubt but he didn't do a thing in that series. That being said I'll miss him but this seems like a good hockey trade.

You are dead on, George. Forwards should be ahead of Dmen drafted in the same class. That might not be true in this case.

All good points. And think this deal also emphasizes that the braintrust think they hit the jackpot with Carbonneau. They are going to have a long jam at wing in the coming years.

Mailloux was 3rd in the AHL in points for a defensemen and really the only "prospect" in the top three and has been an AHL all-star.

Is Stenberg close, or Kaskimaki? Do they like Carbonneau more on the RW than Bolduc, is Carbonneau two years away or less? We knew a prospect was going to be dealt they all cant play. Frankly loved Bolducs potential but Im glad they didnt deal Neighbours

WOOOOHOOOOO, ive been pining for him for months!

I knew about "The Incident" but didn't realize his potential until his name popped up in trade rumors yeasterday.


As far as "The Incident".... he was a 17 year old kid, four thousand miles from home and friends and he made a stupid teenage mistake. A shameful one, no doubt, but he handled it like a man, in my opinion.
I am a great believer in redemption, so- bring him on.

Perfectly stated my friend, I’ve done way worse as a snot nose teen, and this country is full of second chance successes so bring it on!

Unless it involves a violent crime, I don't know how anyone can judge kids under 21. If I had the money some of them get at that age with that talent, I would be lambasted for the shenanigans. [shirt] happens, learn from it and grow up.

Won’t have to wait that long. He just missed scoring 20 playing with scrubs on the 3rd line in his 1st full NHL season. Yeah but we have so many wingers. Guys like Bolduc don’t grow on trees. It wasn’t now or never to find a younger RHD!

I wonder if this opens up the possibility of a short term winger signing in addition to a center.
