I have one situation where I am not fond of a hitter swinging at first pitch.

If there are two runners on base and the second one drew a walk , and the guy just before you walked the bases loaded on 4 straight pitches , I was taught when you go to hit with the bases loaded next you ALWAYS take the first pitch. The guy has just thrown 5 straight balls in a row and have then loaded up. You force the pitcher to throw a strike so you take that first one . In fact, if it is a ball I was taught then do NOT swing at the 2nd one either for now he has thrown 6 consecutive balls.
Regardless, I hate after seeing the bases loaded by a walk the next Cardinal swinging at the first pitch.

VSII should have the green light any time he gets on, the rest of the team simply aren't good base stealers (that includes you M. Winn).

Winn is 2/6 or a pitiful 33% this season and only 15/25 or a weak 60% for his career.

Like scouty said, the Cardinals are outstanding taking the extra bas but other than VSII they're simply throwing away outs if they try to steal.

You need an 80% success rate for it to pay off, VSII should have the green light all day and the others....well no.

Herrera swings and misses badly on two pitches way below the strike zone and still ends up with a walk.
