Corona started their 2025 season today.
Seth Hernandez, RHP, Corona, CA ~ 3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 7 K
Billy Carlson, SS, Corona, CA ~ 1-2, Single, Run, RBI, SF, K
------
Ethan Holliday, 3B, Stillwater HS (OK) starts his 2025 season Saturday, March 1st...next weekend.
-----
Kayson Cunningham, SS, Johnson HS, (TX)...has been playing for few weeks, but his school isn't reporting stats at this time. A bit annoying to follow a guy who is regarded as one of the best SS out there .
Appenzeller, LHP, Glenwood HS, (IL)...starts his season later in the spring. Same with Xavier Neyens 3B Mount Vernon (WA) and
Kruz Schoolcraft LHP/1B Sunset (OR)

Thanks Crav! Yea, hoping he gets into the rotation. He’s off to a good start. I think 2 or 3 of the walks were in his last inning.craviduce wrote: ↑22 Feb 2025 11:44 am David Shaw with the 5 IP piggy back last night. I guess Cal likes Turkington starting more than Shaw...at the moment. Turkington with a rough 6 run, 4 inning effort. Shaw gave up a few walks over 5 innings, but only 1 hit to run his total on the year to 3.
Last night ~ 5 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 4 BB, 6 K...1 WP, 1 HBP
season total ~ 8 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 5 BB, 13 K
tall, imposing LHP....6'6"

Coppola followed up last weeks effort with another nice showing. 5 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 8 KFuturegm2 wrote: ↑18 Feb 2025 14:45 pmNice work Crav. I have a question. What are your thoughts on Pierce Coppola? He had one of the most dominant starts I saw. 12 K’s in 5 innings with 2 base runners given up vs Air Force. Looks like he’s had injury issues, maybe healthy?craviduce wrote: ↑18 Feb 2025 14:42 pm Note ~ I compiled the opening weekend stats for the consensus Top 40-50 college players....pulled from 4 draft boards....covers Top 100-125 prospects. I have no HS players listed. 90% haven't started their season, so there's no use listing them at this time.
I had this done yesterday and saved, was ready to post this morning, but I realized I didn't list how the players bat...when I got home a few hours ago, I went back and entered in their Batting Side (LHB or RHB or S-BOTH). If I missed 1 or 2, I apologize
Also, the reason for the long list: we have 4 picks in the first 90 on day 1 of the draft. These names will likely be picked on Day 1 of the draft....some will fall out, but most will stick.
Enjoy. I'll try to update this once a month, and if I missed anyone, or if there's a player or 3 you want me to track on here, I will definitely do it.![]()

do you remember the hype about Kumar Rocker in the 2021 draft?
dizzying amount of posts on CT about him during that time.
picked 10th overall by the Mets, didn't sign.
drafted 3rd overall by the Rangers in 2022.
anyhow.......just for fun....here is the latest on him from MLBTR:
By Anthony Franco | February 25, 2025 at 10:48pm CDT
Rangers righty Kumar Rocker made his Spring Training debut today against the Royals. The results weren’t good — he allowed four runs in his inning of work — but that’s inconsequential this early in camp.
As Shawn McFarland of the Dallas Morning News writes, manager Bruce Bochy and GM Chris Young have left open the possibility for Rocker to break camp. That might require an injury elsewhere in the rotation, however, as it seems Rocker enters Spring Training sixth on the depth chart. Texas has a veteran top four: Jacob deGrom, Nathan Eovaldi, Tyler Mahle and Jon Gray. The fifth spot could come down to a battle between Rocker and left-hander Cody Bradford — with the latter potentially having the leg up.
“We’re going to see where we come out of camp, where we are from a medical standpoint, who’s healthy, how guys have thrown the ball, but (Rocker is) certainly one that is in our plans,” Young said. “We just can’t tell you exactly how at this point.” The third overall pick in the 2022 draft, Rocker earned a brief debut last September. He started three games, allowing six runs (five earned) through 11 2/3 innings. The 6’5″ righty recorded 14 strikeouts with an excellent 13.3% swinging strike rate. It’s an exceedingly small sample, but he looks capable of missing bats at the highest level.

A lot of good college baseball action this weekend. It seems all the warm weather states have several "Classics, Tournaments, Showcases, etc" going on this weekend
Frisco, Houston, Arlington, Las Vegas, Los Angeles (UCLA).
You can catch LSU and Kansas State tomorrow in Frisco, TX. LSU and Nebraska on Saturday. Note ~ LSU's rotation is shaping up to be insane, and they're using Top 20 pitching prospect from the 2024 draft, William Schmidt as a long man, he's been pretty good, too
Vanderbilt and UCLA tomorrow in LA
Texas and Washington tomorrow in LV
A&M vs. Arizona, Miss. St. vs. Rice, Tennessee vs. Oklahoma St. tomorrow in Houston...through the weekend, I believe they'll interchange opponents
Auburn vs. Ohio State in Arlington
----
plus some good matchups in the ACC/SEC.... Florida vs. Miami for 3 games, and Clemson vs. South Carolina for 3 games.
hot weekend in College baseball before next weekend SEC kickoff.... ACC starts in 2 weekends.
-----
I know we have a few Frisco/McKinney/Dallas North Suburbs CTers on here. Same with Arlington/FtWorth, Houston, and L.A. I'm not quite sure about Vegas. Either way...get out there, take him some hot prospect action!!

Liam Doyle pitching for Tennessee today. Has been the best pitcher in the country through 2 starts. Not great competition so interested to see how he fairs against a much tougher Ok St lineup. Although his first two starts were against weaker opponents, his stuff is reading off the charts.
Elite fastball and plus secondaries to bootRe: 2025 MLB Draft Room ~ Thread, Mocks, Discussion, Draft Boards
Sean Episcope, a pitcher from Princeton, put his name on the map yesterday vs Wake Forest
5 IP 2 H 1 R 1 BB 9 K
Conrad went 1 for 4 with 3 K in the game
According to twitter Episcope was 95-97 mph.
Princeton lost their 7th straight though. But Episcope has pitched well vs WF and also Miami (5 IP 3 H 2 R 6 K 0 BB)

Some Highschool stats from yesterday:
Stillwater HS opened their spring, Ethan Holliday, 3B joined the hit parade with a Double, Single, 4 RBI, 3 Runs, 2 BB. (I don't have a box score for this game, only an Instagram post I had to decipher). Good debut for Holliday, imo.
Seth Herandez's, RHP, second start for Corona High School (CA).... 5 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 8 K....runs his season total to 8 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 15 K
Corona team Billy Carlson, SS has the hot bat this week: 3 Games, 7 AB's, 4 H, 1 HR, 1 Double, 2 Runs, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 2 K, 1 HBP..... .600 OBP/1.143 SLG/1.743 OPS

gotta chance to see Ethan Petry and Cam Cannarella play this weekend. 1 game @Clemson, 1 game in Greenville (neutral site).
Petry only played 1B this weekend, and Cannarella manned CF. They delivered at the plate.
Petry is an on base machine, every team tries to pitch around him. I believe he totaled 4 BB/HBP this weekend. And he smashed a HR deep into LF Saturday afternoon.
Cannarella is a natural in CF. Looked smooth on routes, except for one, he had to change his direction after a misread. Not sure if he would've gotten to the ball with a proper read off the bat or not. But that was just one play, everything else was pretty good. He picked up the game winning RBI into LCF for a double on Saturday...collected 3 hits, 3 walks over the two games. The Tiger fans told everyone that would listen that Cannarella was only 85% to start the season, this was echoed all weekend long (and it was in nearly every article written about him, so this wasn't new news). The fans assured me his power was coming, and that his surgically repaired shoulder (September) was almost 100%
3rd game today at South Carolina in Columbia... we only had 2 games in us, we didn't want to travel all over state for 3 games. We came home last night. Good series, good baseball.
Going to see a few WF games the next few weeks. That should be fun again, it was last year.

Re: 2025 MLB Draft Room ~ Thread, Mocks, Discussion, Draft Boards
if I were do give a Top 5ish draft board with only 3 weeks into the College season, and HS just starting up (note ~ this is tough, b/c you want to be fair to everyone, sometimes there are slow starters, and it's been really cold across much of the US this February).
Taking hot streaks and slow starts into consideration, and weather:
1. Jaime Arnold, LHP, FSU ~ 3 Games, 16 innings, 7 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 24 K....1.13 ERA, 0.563 WHIP. ..... He'll start to face much stiffer competition in 2 weekends with ACC play
2. Seth Hernandez, RHP, Corona HS (CA)...his stats are 3 posts above...2nd best pitcher in the country right now. Corona's competition/schedule is fierce, and Hernandez has sat them all down. 0 Walks, 0 Runs in 8 IP...15 K's
3. Jace LaViolette, CF, LHB, Texas A&M... only 6 Hits in 9 games. His BB/K totals nearly 66% of his 41 PA's...12 walks, 14 K's. 28 AB's, 12 K's, gives him a 50% K rate. I'm thinking the pressure to lead his team and pressure being the potential #1 overall pick, is a bit much for him early on. A&M has played one of the toughest non-conference schedules out there the last 3 weeks, it will only get tougher next weekend with SEC play. LaViolette does have 3 HR...batting .214, with a 1.035 OPS....the Power is there, but the one issue that plagued him coming into this season was the Swing and Miss....and he's Missing. We pray for a rebound from LaViolette
4. Marek Houston, WF, SS....he's a tall SS at 6'4", could move to 3B?. 11 Games, 20 hits, 11 runs, 3 doubles, 5 HR...easily college's best hitters. BillyBaseball talked him up earlier in this thread, it's a great post, I suggest you all read it.
5. Ethan Holliday, 3B/SS, Stillwater HS (OK)...the knock on Ethan is he won't hit for a great avg with a wooden bat, but he packs a mean power punch, much more than his brother. He lands @ 5 for me, not so much a knock against him, but I feel 3 others are better prospects than him at this time (Houston, Arnold, Hernandez). His season is just starting, so stay tuned to see how he does.
Others on the rise.... Ethan Petry, 1B/RF/LF, South Carolina; Avia Arquette, SS/2B, Oregon St; Kade Anderson, LHP, LSU; Chase Shores, RHP, LSU; Liam Doyle, LHP, Tennessee (really good 3 weeks from Doyle, ranked on some 150 boards, and not on others...should be making his way on to all boards now); Dean Curley, SS, Tennessee; Billy Carlson, SS, Corona HS (CA); Kyson Witherspoon, RHP, Oklahoma ; Cam Cannerella, CF, Clemson
Need to see stats/highlights from Willits, Cunningham, and Neyens...these 3 guys could really carry the SS/3B crop this draft. All 3 are HS phenoms.
Updated top 20 draft boards and mocks should be rolling out soon. I thought it would be neat to put my own rankings out there.
I think Marek Houston is hands down the best collegiate bat going in all facets right now. Arnold is the best pitcher with Witherspoon and Doyle nipping on his heels. Doyle might've surpassed him with 34 K in 14 IP. We might be looking at 1a, 1b in terms of pitchers between the 2.
Offer your Top 5/10 if you want
Take mine for whatever it's worth (not much), just a silly fan with his foolish opinions

Offer your Top 5/10 if you want

he's throwing down some good numbers. I hope he keeps this up. I don't know what his plans are, I assume he wants to be drafted. Not being an expert, I'd say he's pushing for a good chance at Day 1 (3 rounds) of the draft...or early Day 2. Lot of time left in this season.Futuregm2 wrote: ↑02 Mar 2025 10:01 amNot starting again yet, but had another nice outing on Friday. Turkington lasted less than 4 again.craviduce wrote: ↑22 Feb 2025 11:44 am David Shaw with the 5 IP piggy back last night.

@FGM2... tell Woody to let him start next Friday![]()
5.2 IP 4 H 2 R/1 ER 1 BB 7 K
WHIP at 0.95 so far and ERA at 1.32 with 20 K’s in 13 IP
As for the starting spot...if he's piggy backing for 3-5 IP per Friday, he's pretty much a starter in my book. California must be really loyal to Turk and the rest of the weekend starters.

Princeton rebounded to win Sunday morning vs. WF, 7-6. Wake had a very bad weekend, they lost yesterday to Maryland 9-8.Futuregm2 wrote: ↑01 Mar 2025 15:37 pm Sean Episcope, a pitcher from Princeton, put his name on the map yesterday vs Wake Forest

You are probably doing more work than some area scouts duce.
