They had a good season. They almost exceeded my greatest expectations for this season. It should be a good learning experience for the youngins. I hope it left a sour taste in all their mouths. Blues had the best team in the NHL on the ropes and almost shocked the world.
Looking forward to next season....LGB!

Exactly correct, Dawggie. Tonight, I didn’t mind Faulk’s first icing from deep in our own corner. But Buchnevich’s icing was flat out stupid. As you said, See the Play.DawgDad wrote: ↑04 May 2025 22:28 pmBetter situational awareness. Shooting at the open net should not be a knee jerk reaction. Not sure where the issue lies (scheme or personnel or a mix), they need to fix that next year.

Mf this was a tough loss. Im glad I got 9 hrs sleep last night because I know I'm losing sleep tonight.

I just heard Bernie say they gave up a league worst 13 goals with the opponent net empty. 2 more than the next worst team.

Trading Buch for the equivalent of 2 firsts last year, which didn't have to include a single draft pick, and Schenn for whatever deal it was Army was willing to pull the trigger on this deadline would have this franchise in better shape for the future than we are now.Stlcardsblues wrote: ↑04 May 2025 22:24 pmYes, we had a couple saying we needed to tear it down and go after the top overall pick as we lacked a franchise game changer,desertrat23 wrote: ↑04 May 2025 22:21 pmThat was a conversation?Stlcardsblues wrote: ↑04 May 2025 22:19 pmHopefully this kills the conversation that they need to blow it up and start over with a full rebuild.

Just for the record I and several others were not in favor of resigning Buch. We could've gotten a nice return for him. I wanted Schenn gone at this trade deadline as well. Army received an offer he was okay with but he decided to keep him for what we just witnessed. If both those moves were made this franchise would be stronger for it.2forDiving wrote: ↑04 May 2025 22:26 pmThey don’t have the right people. So many of the breakdowns fall at the feet of the same people. Schenn, Faulk, and Buch. Been that way all season. They need a better option at RD over Faulk and legit 2CStlcardsblues wrote: ↑04 May 2025 22:23 pm Side note, the last two minutes with the other team pulling there goalie has been a massive issue all year. Brutal! That's the worst thing about the loss tonight in my opinion. Leading by 2 goals and basically 2 minutes left in the game and letting them tie with an extra attacker.

We already received the two players we were targeting in the Buch trade. So that trade wasn’t going to have a huge impact.Blue Sabbath wrote: ↑04 May 2025 22:42 pmTrading Buch for the equivalent of 2 firsts last year, which didn't have to include a single draft pick, and Schenn for whatever deal it was Army was willing to pull the trigger on this deadline would have this franchise in better shape for the future than we are now.Stlcardsblues wrote: ↑04 May 2025 22:24 pmYes, we had a couple saying we needed to tear it down and go after the top overall pick as we lacked a franchise game changer,desertrat23 wrote: ↑04 May 2025 22:21 pmThat was a conversation?Stlcardsblues wrote: ↑04 May 2025 22:19 pmHopefully this kills the conversation that they need to blow it up and start over with a full rebuild.

Not sure if you realize this but that offer didn’t exist for Buch. That might have been the asking price, but not what was out there for him.Blue Sabbath wrote: ↑04 May 2025 22:42 pmTrading Buch for the equivalent of 2 firsts last year, which didn't have to include a single draft pick, and Schenn for whatever deal it was Army was willing to pull the trigger on this deadline would have this franchise in better shape for the future than we are now.Stlcardsblues wrote: ↑04 May 2025 22:24 pmYes, we had a couple saying we needed to tear it down and go after the top overall pick as we lacked a franchise game changer,desertrat23 wrote: ↑04 May 2025 22:21 pmThat was a conversation?Stlcardsblues wrote: ↑04 May 2025 22:19 pmHopefully this kills the conversation that they need to blow it up and start over with a full rebuild.
Armstrong reportedly had a deal for Schenn ready to go but he said he wanted to stay. Can’t do anything about that. The guy has a NTC (and he earned that right).

Are you saying we would've traded Buch for Holloway and Broberg or should I say Edmonton would've traded them both for Buch?Stlcardsblues wrote: ↑04 May 2025 22:49 pmWe already received the two players we were targeting in the Buch trade. Schenn will be fine as a 3rd line player, he just isn’t a 2nd line player any more and that became obvious as soon as Holloway went down. I also think Buch is OK, but that shut down 5 on 6 LW needs to be Torop next year. It’s not Buch and it’s not Neighbours.bluetunehead wrote: ↑04 May 2025 22:51 pmNot sure if you realize this but that offer didn’t exist for Buch. Army was asking for the equivalent of 3 firsts but nobody would pay that. I assume he could've gotten the equivalent of 2 which may have not included a draft pick, just 2 really good prospects or a good young NHL player plus a late first. Theres no telling what return in that range would've consisted of. I just think it was a mistake not to entertain an offer less valuable than three firsts.bluetunehead wrote: ↑04 May 2025 22:51 pmNot sure if you realize this but that offer didn’t exist for Buch. The reports were they were the target and Edmonton turned it down. We got both.Blue Sabbath wrote: ↑04 May 2025 22:51 pmAre you saying we would've traded Buch for Holloway and Broberg or should I say Edmonton would've traded them both for Buch?Stlcardsblues wrote: ↑04 May 2025 22:49 pmWe already received the two players we were targeting in the Buch trade.
