Considering that Arenado is nearing the end at 3rd base , if Arquette is on the board at 5. Would Cardinal brass see his move to 3rd base as doable ?
Heard the scouts rate him a plus arm so he has that for the position. Your thoughts on Cardinals eyeing him for future 3rd baseman ?

if you want a 3B option? Sure....Arquette might be able to do it. He's really good at SS/2B. Or you can go the Willits route, move him to 3B.

Those SS are athletes, they can move around if they're sound defensively.

How's that Tenn/Ark came coming along? I see Curley is having a good night...he needed that. Fischer with some hits, too. Davalan sharp in the Leadoff spot for Ark.

Jace LaViolette held hitless again...he's almost under .250 Batting average in SEC games. 8O

he got his customary 2 walks, but dang...he's struggling.

Cameron Appenzeller ranked number 5 is a name I have never heard. LHP prep arm at 6 ft. 6....Fastball: 55 | Slider: 55 | Changeup: 50 | Control: 50 | Overall: 50

Anyone know much about this lad?

I know scouts were a bit miffed they couldn't scout him until basketball season was over with. He had 70 or so K's after the first week in May. That's about all I have.

The mocks have him in the Top 10 starting in March to almost no where in the Top 30 now....I don't know what's going on with Appenzeller, tbh....note ~ a few mocks, that don't update all of their players, might still have him in their Top 30

Tennessee commit. Maybe he's making it known he's going there? I don't know

I’ll add that he’s from Springfield, IL.

Yeah, I noticed that, as well

You sure make LaViolette seem bad. LaViolette wouldn't fall to the Cardinals second pick, would he?

Yes, that's the reason he's doing poorly in current Mock's vs. the ones in December. It's not his body of work this year, it's me.

I want him to do well, I like the kid. But I'm not going to lie and make up excuses, stories either. If you face the Texas Remedial School for Vocational Reading, and you go 0-6 with 3 K's, I'm going to pass that along.

If you hit .250 in SEC games, I'm going to pass that along.

I passed along he took 2 walks...he gets on base alot. So that's a positive.

Arquette hitting .338 with an OPS of 1.138. 17 home runs in 52 games..

LaViolette will be drafted 10-15, give or take 1 spot...9-16. The draft is that bad, so he benefits there.

Everyone seems to think he'll go to the Reds at 9...I guess it's the new trend.

trending is the Angels, Cards, Rockies targeting the 3 LHP pitchers (Arnold, Anderson, Doyle). Seeing more and more mocks putting the Nats at Holliday, Hernandez or Willits at #1. The Mariners take whatever the Nats don't take at #3.

if he does well in the post season, then he'll cement himself as Top 7 player in the draft....where he falls? I don't know. That's going to change over the next few months...especially with every pundit reading the tea leaves regarding which team is scouting which player and which team isn't.

If local writers feel the Cards are targeting LHP pitchers, then the Cards Brass/Scouts have probably shown up recently to Tallahassee, Baton Rouge and Knoxville...and they haven't elsewhere in a while
