If this was 1986 you’d have a point, but it’s not.
A guy that is not afraid to stand up for his teammates on the 4th line. Not sure what’s not to like.
I agree. We don't have anyone like and fills a huge need.
Some, are going to whine no matter what.

Frank Barone wrote: 01 Jul 2026 12:25 pm Blues may be interested in a 7th defenseman that can replace Tucker. This signing means the Blues will not need Tucker to stick up for teammates. I'd like to see a vet LD that can step in for Lindstein on occasion.
Tucker’s physical play in general is still very much needed. If you really think about it the entire Blues defense doesn’t throw hits on any sort of regular basis outside of Tucker. LM tried to be physical but most of the time it’s not effective.

Good they need someone with meat on the 4th line. Tired of seeing these smaller forwards being passed off as effective momentum changers.

192 Hits in 62 GP last year, i dont mind this at all.

Torop/Walker both scored only 4 goals last year, Johnston had 3 in similar GP and was Even. Why not? Dude can skate a little, a menace

It's a move the Blues made. For some, that's all it takes.

He went 6-3-1 in his fights last year. The losses were more edges to the oppenent and were against top heavies in the league. No bad losses. He's a legit Heavyweight.

I like this signing. Blues needed some toughness. The Blues don't have the right guys to expect goals from the 4th line but that 4th line should be tough to play against. They needed an aggressive heavyweight. Steener knows what's up. LGB!

Added some actual toughness. I know Tucker tries, but just isn’t the best fighter. Pretty sure he’s not feared league wide.

Blues continue to get bigger. Tougher.

Exactly. I've always liked and admired Dingo, but this might just spell the end for him. Him or Johnston would both be a 14th forward imho, so I'd rather have the heavyweight. And I'm not 100% sure it's Walker going, but he seems likely, as I haven't read anything to that effect, but it makes sense he gets waived.
With the three year deal, RJ is going to get regular time. I think he dresses more than I originally thought.

Our fourth line is absolutely massive. Love the direction for the Blues while the rest of the division gets smaller and less physical. Its a direction that does give the team an edge.

Cant see Walker on the NHL club at this point.

He was on a 4 year deal most recently, and averaged about 55 to 60 games per year over the past 3 seasons in ANA. I would expect similar, right in line what is being predicted above. JMO.

If you're arguing that Johnston has equal offensive ability as Drouin, then I'd venture to to say it is you who doesn't know much. Drouin was a 3rd overall pick. Cherry picking stats doesn't help your cause... Johnston has all of 14 goals over 10 years in the league.
