The classic response by players is 'we always forget yesterday ..that is in the past.. we just focus on today's game. Then sometimes will say to the reporter ' ya, know ' we play em one at a time ' adding a chuckle .

For managers, you often hear them mentioning 'we try to win each series ' so a 2 of 3 mentality. When it's a 4-game series and on the ROAD within the division , a manager is thinking 'be nice if we split the 4 games .. get out of here going 2-2, if possible .

Very often players have no clue who are the next opponents after the Pirates. Unlike fans , they don't spend their time looking 10 games out. Players don't play that projection game. Some don't have a clue what their batting average is either til they walk up to the plate and see it on the scoreboard next to their pic.

So the team dint know it was Pittsburgh then LAD. How could they not?

and what makes you think they do look at stats, etc, and baseball related stuff. I have seen side stories about
what do players do in the clubhouse during pregame, rain delays, etc. They said players are looking at the stock market numbers, checking stocks they own to see if up or down, today some are 'gaming doing the video game stuff that I do not do (so have no clue which ones they are playing,listening to their favorite genre of music ... they sure aren't on MLB checking out stats and their schedule.

Because I have talked to many former players and they know what the hell is going on. You are completely wrong if you think otherwise.
