Here for the implosion.
Same. The fanbase always take the hate for the manager to an unwarranted extreme. It’s been that way since I started reading this board.
Thinking someone is not a good fit for a job isn’t hatred. When you go through a job interview and the company hires someone else it wasn’t because they hated you. They just thought someone else could do the job better.
I’ve asked a couple times….what does Oli contribute to winning games?
He gets along with players
Manages BP well.
Sounds like a bench coach

I don't understand why they would do that.
Mostly because he is cheap.
BINGO!
That plus no quality Manager would take this job knowing Dewitt isn't going to spend money for a long time.

Hard to say. He was given decent personnel for the bullpen, and as you stated, he managed them well,
maybe even overachieved a little. Could he do the same if given a decent rotation or lineup?
I don’t like him as manager for two main reasons. First, he comes with this high regard for developing young players and I’ve only seen overall regression.
Secondly, his embracing of losing. You can learn lessons in a loss, but it should not be the primary teaching device and should at least be frowned upon. He takes it in stride like no other.
I think many of our young players have adopted his identity and don’t see themselves as here to win a championship. Their goal is to simply be on the team, and when you don’t have to win or play under any pressure or with any consequence, it sends a bad message and creates the absolute wrong culture for a professional sports team.

They paid to fly a fire LaRussa flag over the field in spring training. Definitely rational people.

And that should be reason enough to give Olinthe benefit of the doubt.

Rational, result-based, and philosophical reasonings have been given as to why many of us aren’t Marmol fans and don’t think he deserves an extension. Not hatred or some long lost love for TLR.
But you two can keep ignoring us and fluffing each other if it makes you feel better.

I don't understand why they would do that. Did they think some other team would hire him away? Did they think this will excite the fans who stopped attending games?
I've been trying to tell people- they like Oli.

Well at least we'll only have to watch him this season. 2027 they'll lock his (donkey) out with the players

Because a lockout of some length is almost guaranteed for 2027 and the organization is in a total rebuild, this doesn't bother me as much as it did 2 years ago.
I really like Oli as a person and a guy. My detest is based purely upon performance and decision-making. But if the team is trying to cut cost uncertainty wherever they can until it's certain they're on the upswing and out of rebuilding, I guess Oli's as good a manager as any other cheap nobody.

Still missing it. They aren't stuck with Oli. They aren't settling for Oli. They aren't making do with Oli. They LIKE Oli.

Yep, he's Blooms guy. I've been saying it all along.
I'm enjoying all the spin though. Too funny.

Marmol is represented by Roc Nation agency , the same outfit that represents Albert Pujols and current Cardinal SS Masyn Winn.
