Some of you all are going to be deep into counseling before the All-Star break. Relax, it's a game.Goldfan wrote: ↑25 Feb 2026 11:00 am Wetherholt (L) SS

Walker is a 6’6 250lb 23yrold specimen of a human…..apparently penciled as starting RF…..with many questions as to whether he can hit MLB pitching….and this manager has him scheduled to play every other day???
Because 3-4 AB’s in a Spring Training game is too taxing on a 23yr old body??
JW needs as many swings as he can get against MLB pitching, Cards manager is once again proven an idiot.
There are fellas on this thread giving play by play(God Bless You) of the 4th ST game providing great detail about a 4 string infielder….do you really think its Just A GameTalkin' Baseball wrote: ↑25 Feb 2026 14:16 pmSome of you all are going to be deep into counseling before the All-Star break. Yes. They may also be in need of counseling.Goldfan wrote: ↑25 Feb 2026 14:22 pmThere are fellas on this thread giving play by play(God Bless You) of the 4th ST game providing great detail about a 4 string infielder….do you really think its Just A GameTalkin' Baseball wrote: ↑25 Feb 2026 14:16 pmSome of you all are going to be deep into counseling before the All-Star break. What I am saying is - at this point in Spring - there really isn't much difference in backfield work and game action. Could he get at bats in the game AND work on the backfield? Sure. Would it make a difference? Not really. Certainly not enough to complain about. But you can find a way to complain about anything.Goldfan wrote: ↑25 Feb 2026 13:56 pmIf someone is seriously claiming that practice on the backfield is more beneficial than live game situational hitting…….and yes JW could be practicing all day somewhere AND get his 4 game AB’s that would consume 2.5hrs…..Voldemort wrote: ↑25 Feb 2026 13:48 pmJohnny, all of this is true. However, back in the day when listening to broadcasts, it was often mentioned that a hitter might get a couple of bats against an opposing pitcher and then take off to the back fields for this type of work.JohnnyMO wrote: ↑25 Feb 2026 13:44 pmHave you ever watched hitters work on back fields in Spring? Hitting off a tee is a small part of it. They face live pitching, sometimes from major league pitchers sometimes minor league guys. They work on specific things like going the other way, etc, and they get 20 times the amount of at bats than they would in a game. It is arguably more valuable than in game at bats, which in Spring are going to be minor league pitchers from the other team a lot of the time anyway.Goldfan wrote: ↑25 Feb 2026 13:01 pmSo in your great baseball wisdom…..hitting of a tee…..is just as good as live MLB pitching…..for ole JW. I’m waiting for ccards to figure out a complaint today. They shut out the Mets scored 3 runs by a home run scored 6 runs but I’m sure somehow they didn’t win the right wayJohnnyMO wrote: ↑25 Feb 2026 14:41 pmWhat I am saying is - at this point in Spring - there really isn't much difference in backfield work and game action.
