Proving once again Oli show no growth whatsoever as a Manager.
Unless Walker is injured……I’m playing him in every ST on any field that has a game…..what is the point of sitting this guy??
He needs to show he can hit??
No idea unless as you said he's got s some ache and they're just playing it safe.

He needs as many reps at the plate and in RF he can get.
Course lil Oli needs to make sure everyone gets a swing………
And make sure M. Winn gets what he wants even though he s u c k s hitting lead-off.

Pitiful excuse for a manager.
It’s the first game of ST.

You’re embarrassing yourself

We're in midseason form already on CT with (bleep) and whining about the opening ST lineup. My goodness this place is nuts. It's really hard to take complaints about Oli seriously with posts like this, knowing EVERYTHING he does is going to be complained about no matter what.

leadoff walk JJ
Fermin doubles him to third

JJ draws walk in 2nd at bat

Was looking at the MLB Gameday Great pitch recognition ! Took ball 2 balls inside,,, then a pitch was in strkezone and he swung fouled it off.
then took 2 more balls both high out of zone..

So 5 pitch walk and he didn't chase one pitch in the at bat... Only ball in the zone he did swing and fouled it off !

Now that's what you want to see ! Great plate discipline and that's what is he is known for.

One reason why he is a weapon for leadoff spot IMO just like he did in minors.

after the double by Fermin moving JJ to third , he scores on a wild pitch. First run of his major league career way to go

Nothing embarrasses him. He just blathers on and on repeating himself over and over to anyone who will engage him.

Fernandez struggling ... with 2 outs allows a single to left .. run scores
then with runners on 1st & 2nd wild pitch moving runners over
and then gives u a 3 -run HR

Not a good outing !

Nothing more.
Lineup today is irrelevant.
Players will be switched in and out of the "game".
Exactly

Shouldn't have to if we had a manager who had a freaking clue!
Any other managers out there not playing a guy who may or may not even make the OD roster?
No complaints about the players playing. I understand how ST works.
My compliant is the ignorant construction of the players he is playing.
I also understand they are just getting some work in, but might as well put guys in spots where they might actually hit. Why not construct a lineup that can be competitive and makes some sense?

Again, I know early ST lineups mean nothing. But Marmol has shown an inability to get them right even in season, and routinely tries to put guys in spots they don't belong (i.e. Winn leading off).
Agree to disagree. No one (aside from maybe JJW) is getting more than 2 ABs today. So what difference does it make? A week before OD, maybe, but not now.

Besides, for years I was assured on CT that Mo was making the lineups, not the manager. So, as far as I'm concerned, Oli has a clean slate and is free to experiment as he pleases. Unless Bloom is now making the lineup (insert mystery twist music sting here)!
Well you can still get guys ABs and have it make sense in a batting order. It's possible to do both. Lazy and, honestly inept, that he doesn't/can't. Pedro Pages should never be penciled into a cleanup spot under any circumstances. Lol

On MLB.com.
Fermin doubled.
Church has a HR and a walk.
Gorman singled.
That's the offense through 6.
Matthews and Fernandez both got lit up.
6-2 Nats.

Can you believe Oli used 9 pitchers today? Who uses 9 pitchers in a game? Does he want to burn out the entire staff before April?

Does that sound about right to fit in with the rest of the lunacy in this thread?
