Absolutely! Government is the people, it's the fans. I would without a doubt the people and fans make the profits than a guy like Stan Kroneke. He could move the team if we don't meet his profit demands, he can spend his profits how he sees fit and not for the good of the fans, team or community. Why would anyone with any common sense want that when the people paying the bills can get the profits? I think all communities should own their teams, set salary caps and make the leagues profitable for the taxpayers. The millionaires are about to fight with the billionaires for our money and have a lockout or strike and stopping my fun, let's cut out the billionaire and set a salary cap on the millionaires and use the profits to build an expansion to ballpark village and lower costs some for fans etc.

Bill also said owning the team isn't profitable...it wasn't anyone on here that said it..it was straight out of his mouth...might as well sell it then...it's due for renovations/upgrades....payroll is being slashed...high dollar veteran contracts are gone...it's actually quite possible

Interesting. But, is he who we really want owning the team? He is worth a lot, but $2.5B is not open checkbook wealth given the baseball salary structure. Plus, isn't this the same guy that started a development in Augusta MO, started buying stuff and then stopped?

And the Cardinals are valued at $2.5B so he'd need partners (like BDWJr did when he purchased them).

I've heard this rumor before that the Washington, Mo native wanted to buy the Cardinals.

I think this is all just chatter................but lets keep a close eye on it since BDWJr may not like the climate around MLB after the new CBA is announced and there's no salary cap.

Wonder if the Taylors or the WWT tandem would be interested in joining that group. They're already both involved with SC City (at least Taylors and Kavanaugh, not idea what Steward does with his money).

Maybe Jack Dorsey or Sam Altman would bring some youth and technology focused leadership? Rodger Riney is long in the tooth, but maybe bored in retirement? Pujols should have plenty of scratch to invest! Is Johnny Morris a Cardinals fan?

I believe the only team that is owned by a municipality is the Green Bay Packers. Since then each league has outlawed any other such arrangement.

Besides, I heard on 1120 a.m. that the DeWitts have said they aren't interested in selling.
