Lots of rumors running rampant but several people seem to be backing a story that this other kid may have been verbally assaulting McKenna’s mom.

that alone doesn't justify physical violence. Now if there is some pushing and shoving going on, and there's a bit of instigation, I can get on board with people being dumb. But this type of violence can't be unchecked. there's a time, place, and reasoning. And being an underage "celebrity" prospect at a bar, you have to know the pitfalls and risks you are taking. You get a lot of people hyping you up, and you are going to have haters bringing you down. that's life. it's always been that way as well on college campuses. That's not a new development.

I would have to imagine that if it got to that point, if that rumor is true, it went far beyond "your momma so fat" jokes. I think there is having thick skin, and then there's be downright degrading. To reach that point I'd have to imagine it was the 2nd one, not the first.

This kind of stuff is a cautionary tale for all of you doomer tanker people. You expect an 18-20 year old to be a hit every single time. Then you find out these guys are hitting teeth and breaking jaws out in public. It's why even the best are still a gamble. That on top of the news that Michkov is having trouble meeting weight requirements to play hockey? TANK TANK TANK TANK. Bunch of idiots.

In all seriousness, this is terrible for McKenna assuming that everything is being reported pretty equally. But even if it's got room for error here, he continues to show character issues. These are tough lessons to learn. But the only time you can hit a person, is if they start the fight with you. For his sake there better be some real escalation from the dudes jaw he broke.
