Unless the ownership group has been taking huge dividends the last 25 years they should have a war chest of retained earnings!
BDWJr can still, even w/the low attendance, afford all but the top echelon of FA's..................he just refuses to spend unless attendance is high.

I'll wait to see what the new contract with the union is and what type of TV deal they can get.
Long wait. In the mean time,,,,
Yup. OK, assuming contract is about the same and they find a reasonable TV contract I expect they will return to $180 ish levels adjusted for inflation.

I hear ya. I said about 200, only because it will be necessary to compete.

My concern is simple. They are a business and won't run in the red. So the revenues will need to be there to cover $200 mil. Heck, if the revenues are there I'd bet they spend more.

Put that way what comes first chicken or egg/revenue or spending.

That is the problem facing many a business. IMO if they see consistent revenues from profit sharing and a TV contract they will jump and assume they can return to 3 million ticket sales as a basis for total revenue.

Around 200 million by 2030. Hopefully in the top 1/2 of the league. Most likely between 10-15.

BDW gets a loan, spends on some stars and winning, and FANS return. Fans aren’t returning to watch a AAA club
We were 5 games over .500 at the all star break and attendance wasn't good. The tv deal is a big factor. People no longer get the games on their basic cable or satellite package and aren't paying $20 a month and as a result have lost interest.
A new tv deal is needed. DeWitt Jr and/or DeWitt III aren't going to take out a loan.
People have (upset) at MO and wanted him gone. Secondly they’ve been (upset) at BDW for keeping him and not spending. But mostly sick of MO being utterly clueless. So they stayed home. Basically same story from every Cards Fan I know and people I just run in to. And unfortunately it will take STARS and dominant fun winning to get Butts back in seats. The low talent OLI run team…..5games over .500 at Allstar break ain’t gonna cut it. Giant hole BDW has dug……and he’s still screwing up keeping Oli
I agree with a lot of that but 5 games over .500 is a winning team and the fans weren't showing up.
5 games over is around .500. I’m talking about an exciting fun WINNING team. And what happened. Oli pitched Miles and Fedde FOUR games in that back to back Cubbie bear week and that Was the end of season. THEN Mo sold…..
Firing Matheny was the beginning of the end.

I agree on pitcher selection. Backfired. 5 games over is impossible unless a rainout. 83-79, or 84-78. No five over.
Lol. That made me laugh.

I was being cute Rock…..of course the old man has the $$$…it’s laughable the fooled fans who log in here and defend BDW bank account. But Butts in the seats aren’t returning without a dominant team with some stars. It’s a long way out of the hole BDW has created. I still can’t believe he stuck with MO but I suppose he was right there with most decisions.

I’m sure it’s been mentioned that the Brewers had the most wins and the 23rd lowest payroll in baseball. I think they spent $26 million less than the Cardinals. So, argue all you want.

Dimwit bought the team and garages for $150 million.
He sold the garages for $75 million. Team is worth $2.55 Billion. He’s not operating at a loss. His payroll poor crying worked well with fans that always want to be in agreement with management. Why? Makes them feel good about themselves.
I’ll go to games when the put talent and entertainment on the field. Bigger fried turkey legs or extra cheese on nachos won’t get me there. Dimwit actually said fans are more interested in ball park experience. He’s clueless.

Which of these choices best describes where you think the Cardinals' spending on the ML payroll will be in 2030:
1) They'll be spending like the Dodgers (maybe because you think the team will have been sold to another Steve Cohen?)!
2) They'll be spending well over $200 million and have a payroll in the Top 10 in MLB (10th in 2025 was $210 million).
3) They'll be back to spending consistent with their historical highs (~$180 million) wherever that ranks them.
4) Due to revenue issues, they'll be spending a bit less than their historical highs (e.g., ~$140-$150 million).
5) They'll be spending down with the small market teams (like the Guardians or less).
FWIW - I'll take #3.
What are the pill numbers.

I’ve posted this several times.
In 20yrs National TV Rev has TRIPLED
Local TV Rev has more than DOUBLED
Game tickets/expenses have more than DOUBLED
And BDW/III/and goofballs on this site think BDW can now only afford a payroll that’s less than 20yrs ago because the smallest Revenue stream went from 75mil to 58mil annually….:crazya::

Mo took the fan/media heat off Dewitt, that was one of his main jobs.
