Remember navynuke, a respected poster when he posted on here before he probably got tired of dealing with the roach? Well, now he is posting on SEC rant. And he had this to say about this hire.
Heupel's offense with Batoon's defense the last two years is a definite playoff team. Lindsey's offense has never been that explosive ever.
Lights up weak teams, loses to good teams. Sound familiar?
Drink had Ferrari money and bought a used Ford Explorer with 85k on it.
He also had this to say:
Going to be more of the same. "Our identity is outside zone". The reality is that you have to be multiple in the run game. Offensive linemen are always blocking someone with an athleticism advantage. When that defender also knows where the play is going, they get to the spot first.
This is a meh hire.
And this as well:
He loves Mesh, Dagger, RPO Slant and zone blocking......
Meh.
Nuke knows his football. I miss his takes on this board.
Yeah I know my football too.
Everybody has a right to a say.
What everyone here should know taking recruits out of high school or a year or two in college football that developing a lineman to be proficient at pass pro is exponentially harder to do than run blocking which you have to do in high school.
What they should also know is all the rule advantages go towards the offense thus the only way to stop most passing attacks is by sending more than your front four after the passer.
So knowing that the day of the traditional pocket passer is all but in the rear view mirror. Your QB has to be two dimensional.
So then we must know to keep the QB healthy you can't live in a perpetual 3rd and 7, 3rd and 8 so you have to run the football to stay hopefully in front of the sticks.
I haven't said anything about whether it's the right hire or not but I believe its a step in the right direction.
The key is and always will be having the right QB.
Pribula was a mistake. Hopefully next year's starter won't be.
