the Fowler/Mailloux pairing doesn't seem to work. and honestly, it's Fowler that drags it down. been a bit of a dumpster fire in his own zone. like watching shattenkirk all over again

Re: Who goes when we get healthy
Remains to be seen how good Stenberg and Berggren are in a few weeks to a month. Right now, today, there is no way I would sit either Berggren or Stenberg for Joseph or Toropchenko. I think Sunny sticks you also forgot Suter. I like the lines that just beat Florida easily then when health if ever:
Berggren Thomas Buchnevich
Neighbours Schenn Kyrou
Holloway Dvorsky Snuggerud
Walker Suter Stenberg
Sundqvist/Bugstad/Torop
If Stenberg is still PKing, playing hard, winning puck battles and Berggren is piling up points then there are some roster moves coming

the other night on the one goal, it sucked to watch Mailloux try to defend 2 guys in the crease while Fowler was doing.. well.. not sure what he was doingSameOldBlues wrote: ↑22 Dec 2025 09:55 amUnfortunately, I agree.moose-and-squirrel wrote: ↑22 Dec 2025 09:52 amthe Fowler/Mailloux pairing doesn't seem to work. and honestly, it's Fowler that drags it down. been a bit of a dumpster fire in his own zone. like watching shattenkirk all over again

You know things have changed around here when we’re discussing LM having to cover for Fowler, or anyone else for that matter. I love it.moose-and-squirrel wrote: ↑22 Dec 2025 09:59 amthe other night on the one goal, it sucked to watch Mailloux try to defend 2 guys in the crease while Fowler was doing.. well.. not sure what he was doingSameOldBlues wrote: ↑22 Dec 2025 09:55 amUnfortunately, I agree.moose-and-squirrel wrote: ↑22 Dec 2025 09:52 amthe Fowler/Mailloux pairing doesn't seem to work. and honestly, it's Fowler that drags it down. been a bit of a dumpster fire in his own zone. like watching shattenkirk all over again
Re: Who goes when we get healthy
Jonatan Berggren - Robert Thomas - Pavel Buchnevich
Jake Neighbours - Brayden Schenn - Otto Stenberg
Pius Suter - Dalibor Dvorsky - Robby Fabbri
Alexey Toropchenko - Oskar Sundqvist - Mathieu Joseph
Philip Broberg - Colton Parayko
Tyler Tucker - Justin Faulk
Cam Fowler - Logan Mailloux
I guess Kyrou replaces Fabbri.
Stenberg goes back to AHL when Snuggerud returns. Love Stenberg though. He's great.
Holloway, Walker--hell if I know.
Maybe we see a trade(S)

It was Sunny that lost his man in the corner and just kind of peeled off once he knew he was beat. That game wasn’t Sunny’s best as a Bluemoose-and-squirrel wrote: ↑22 Dec 2025 09:59 amthe other night on the one goal, it sucked to watch Mailloux try to defend 2 guys in the crease while Fowler was doing.. well.. not sure what he was doingSameOldBlues wrote: ↑22 Dec 2025 09:55 amUnfortunately, I agree.moose-and-squirrel wrote: ↑22 Dec 2025 09:52 amthe Fowler/Mailloux pairing doesn't seem to work. and honestly, it's Fowler that drags it down. been a bit of a dumpster fire in his own zone. like watching shattenkirk all over again

Joseph will be moved if I had a guess. If the Blues retain some salary, he would be easy to move.BluesDom wrote: ↑22 Dec 2025 14:15 pm Jonatan Berggren - Robert Thomas - Pavel Buchnevich

We have all three slots open for salary retention if memory serves me correctly. Toropchenko too.

I thought Fabbri had a really strong game against the Panthers. Not sure how you can take him, Stenberg or Berggren out if they keep playing this way.

It's the Blues. They will never be healthy. But I'll give it a shot at the ideal look:
Neighbours Thomas Buch
Holloway Suter Kyrou
Schenn Dvorsky Snuggerud
XXX Sunny Toro
No clue how the extras fill out. Walker, Fabbri, Berg, Bjugstad, Stenberg, Joseph

Re: Who goes when we get healthy
Watching this team the last few years and especially recently the team is really missing the type of player that has the skill and will to put the team on their back from time to time to change the momentum of the game. The 3 highest paid forwards just don't have that total package. Buch and Thomas are easily frustrated. Kyrou doesn't have that battle level in him. Buch seems to have zero confidence and whatever the reason he is playing nowhere near the level of a top line player. Thomas has the skill but just doesn't have that win at all costs attitude. I can see the team trying to move one or two of those 3. I would say Thomas is the safest to stay but would also command a heavy return. Dvorsky looks willing to throw the body and play a 200 ft game but he still has a way to go to be a legit top 6 player. The D I think the team will trade high on Faulk this year and maybe even Parakyo if they could get a return like Vancouver did, maybe not as many pieces back but perhaps a 22-25 year old D.

Re: Who goes when we get healthy
If Berg keeps performing then he has to stay. If Fabbri stays healthy then he has to stay simply because we don’t have any other players with his speed. What about something like this?ratonmono2 wrote: ↑22 Dec 2025 17:50 pm It's the Blues. They will never be healthy. But I'll give it a shot at the ideal look:

Re: Who goes when we get healthy
I am very disappointed in Fowler. It appears that Fowler was one of the largest benefactors of the Blues post-4-nations mirage miracle, not one of the largest drivers of it. Upsetting.SameOldBlues wrote: ↑22 Dec 2025 09:55 amUnfortunately, I agree.moose-and-squirrel wrote: ↑22 Dec 2025 09:52 amthe Fowler/Mailloux pairing doesn't seem to work. and honestly, it's Fowler that drags it down. been a bit of a dumpster fire in his own zone. like watching shattenkirk all over again
My Christmas wish is that many BluesTalkers would realize that Army chooses to take his risks on seasoned veterans instead of high draft picks, and it is biting us. We overpay. They have no trade-in value. We quickly lose them to better deals/teams. They age poorly. They break down.
In contrast, Quinn plays for 10 years at a star level, and then Vancouver reaps 4 #1's from Minnesota.
If Army/Blues don't change their approach this year, they are going to lose a lot of fans.

About to collect one of the worst contracts in Blues history, that's what he's doing.moose-and-squirrel wrote: ↑22 Dec 2025 09:59 amthe other night on the one goal, it sucked to watch Mailloux try to defend 2 guys in the crease while Fowler was doing.. well.. not sure what he was doingSameOldBlues wrote: ↑22 Dec 2025 09:55 amUnfortunately, I agree.moose-and-squirrel wrote: ↑22 Dec 2025 09:52 amthe Fowler/Mailloux pairing doesn't seem to work. and honestly, it's Fowler that drags it down. been a bit of a dumpster fire in his own zone. like watching shattenkirk all over again

Trade Schenn, dump Joseph, Sunny, Torp. There’s 4 spots.BluesDom wrote: ↑22 Dec 2025 14:15 pm Jonatan Berggren - Robert Thomas - Pavel Buchnevich

Re: Who goes when we get healthy
Well, more and more posters seem to be coming around on how the Fowler and Buch contracts are going to look going forward. One started this year (poorly) and the other starts next year (ouch). Back on topic, unfortunately, their options are limited from an asset management perspective. So, barring any trades, Stenberg will need to go back. It will be a shame if he's still playing like he is. As some start to return though, I would move Buch down and try to get guys going.
Next injured players returning (Snuggs/Kyrou):
Berggren- Thomas - Snuggs
Neighbours - Schenn - Stenberg
Buch - Dvorsky - Kyrou
Toro - Suter - Joseph
Extra: Sunny, Fabbri
Holloway Returns:
Holloway- Thomas - Kyrou
Neighbours - Schenn - Berggren
Buch - Dvorsky - Snuggs
Toro - Suter - Joseph
Extra: Sunny, Fabbri
AHL: Stenberg sent down
