No I don’t want a ? He is the only players cardinals have that can return a SP better than Libertore in their prime to extend. A team of all young SP in 2 years will win nothing. Pitchers prime is 30. You don’t want anyone in their prime when the young guys hit the majors?Poojols wrote: ↑06 Dec 2025 09:28 amWho cares? The trade below was the 3rd one floated and listed as 'The one they can't refuse '
Your thoughts on if Bloom would accept two top 100 players for Donovan.
St. Louis Cardinals
Receive
2B Michael Arroyo
RHP Ryan Sloan
In this one, the Cardinals would get two top-100 prospects back for Donovan. MLB Pipeline has Arroyo ranked at No. 63, and Sloan a touch higher at No. 44.
It isn't clear where Arroyo's future defensive home is, but the bat is going to play no matter where he ends up. He has a .408 OBP for his career in the minors, and has launched 40 homers across the last two seasons. He could be a Howie Kendrick with more pop.
Though Sloan isn't Seattle's best pitching prospect, he's arguably the most exciting. He was only 19 years old this season, yet he showed off excellent stuff and excellent command in striking out 90 batters against 15 walks in 82.0 innings at Single-A and High-A.
The Mariners surely don't want to trade either guy, but they could also live without both. Arroyo's positional uncertainty makes it uniquely difficult to pencil him into the club's future plans. And timeline-wise, Sloan is behind Kade Anderson and Jurrangelo Cijntje on the path to the major
Sloan , age 19, is currently ranked 5th in Mariners prospect list with Arroyo , age 21, ranked 6th in their list.
We aren't going to get the 5th best starting pitcher in MLB for him. On the topic of prospect rankings Bloom got the Dodger's #1 and #3 for Betts and Price. #3 was a flop. #1 was Verdugo.
Donovan is your best trade asset. You want to get MLB ready pitching for Donovan because you're worried about who will pitch in 2026? Sign a couple scrubs to go along with the team full of mostly scrubs.

I want the best possible return, period. Typically teams that are going to trade for a Donovan type aren't dealing studs from the major league roster. So top prospects from the minors it is. Starting pitching for 2026 and 2027 isn't top of the list for me.Youboughtit wrote: ↑06 Dec 2025 09:50 amNo I don’t want a ? There are many teams with extra SP. for example the Dodgers and Sheehan. He’s their #9 currentlyPoojols wrote: ↑06 Dec 2025 10:22 amI want the best possible return, period. The Dodgers may be the exception due to their infinite piggy bank. I'm still taking the package with the most potential. I don't see the Cardinals competing until 2028 or 2029. Sad times.Youboughtit wrote: ↑06 Dec 2025 10:30 amThere are many teams with extra SP. for example the Dodgers and Sheehan.
