I don't know. Maybe somebody that follows the game would realize Scherzer started the 7th game of the World Series. That's a pretty big deal. IMO
Thanks for proving my point.
Please elaborate. Thanks. Also, could he improve the Cardinals starting pitching in '26? Since he's a FA, this is a relevant topic for discussion?
He's not going to play for a rebuild.

He's got enough money for 100 lifetimes. He wants to play for a contender.
Well, if he stays in STL, it might give him a good chance to play for a contender.

Sign Max, and put in the contract that if he wants to be traded at the DL, the org must fulfill his wish and he has full veto power.
Yeah and if has yet another injury which certainly will occur the team is out salary which apparently they can ill afford to lose. Thus him not having any trade value at the deadline.

I fail to see how Scherzer, after coming agonizingly close to another ring, would want to slum it with the rebuilding Cards. That is unless there is absolutely zero interest from contenders.

Scherzer to the Cards makes zero sense even if Gray is traded.
But isn't it worth discussing? Since the Cardinals' starting rotation, obviously, needs help.
Max Scherzer is not going to help the Cardinals’ 2026 rotation.

At some point you have to push nostalgia aside and remember he'll be a 42 year old pitcher. Do you want Matt Carpenter back too, just because he'd be cheaper than Contreras?

Maybe you should apply for a job with the Cardinals front office. You'd fit in just fine with their love of signing aging guys who were once good.

And to answer your other question. If I'm trying to win games, I take Gray over Max.
