LOL You were comparing bolduc to a 40 goal scorer in his first couple games now you are saying he is a 4th liner still worth more than a very young 22 year old dman....Matt kessel is 25 lol you are pure (bleep)a smell of green grass wrote: ↑21 Oct 2025 10:25 amWhat is more detrimental to a team?
A) A weak 4th-line winger
B) A weak 3rd-line defenseman
I'll leave it there.

Yes, in fact I believe he was referring to himself when he said it...a future HOF'er.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑21 Oct 2025 08:59 amPronger said it. Then Fowler agreed in an article from JR. MacInnis has said similar things in the past too. It’s a pretty common statement in the NHL.dhsux wrote: ↑21 Oct 2025 08:40 amPronger said it.blues2112 wrote: ↑21 Oct 2025 07:47 amEither Vitale or Kerber quoted Fowler that it takes 200-300 games for most defensemen to feel comfortable in the NHL.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑20 Oct 2025 21:02 pmExactly.AtillaTheBlue1 wrote: ↑20 Oct 2025 16:10 pm this trade was going to be a loss for at least next 2-3 years, pending mailloux development
army played long game with trade, time will tell how bad or even the deal is
It should be incredibly obvious Bolduc was going to be the better player this season. He’s more experienced and plays the easier position. Anyone stating the Habs won the trade because Bolduc is better now is simply stating the obvious and missing the point. The Blues are playing the long game here. D-men typically take longer to develop but they’re also generally worth more. That positional value is what bridges the gap between their experience levels.
300 games
That said, teams simply can’t play a player 200-300 games to see what they have in a player. A lot of players don’t even have a 300 game career. Even if a player isn’t “comfortable” until 200-300 games played, teams need them to play well while uncomfortable. The leash is generally pretty short in the best league in the world.
But for the Blues....recently here....I include his comment more akin to a Walman, Mikko....maybe even Dunn kind of truth.

Everyone watch out while the goal posts get moved again.

I hope Mailoux is not picking up pointers from Tucker, Faulk, and any other defenseman. This is an exercise in futility tonight.

The one guy that is walking a little taller today is Mailloux. Clearly, the team doesn't just stink when he's out there.
So bring your kid back in now, Monty. We all know that your kid is clearly not the only problem.
