The Mets bolstered their bullpen at the deadline by trading for Helsley. He didn't work out well . Did they spend 'smartly' in trading for one of the better relievers ? Unsure how one quantifies SMARTLY ... If a team increases the payroll and the team doesn't do well, is it that the team didn't spend SMARTLY ? or are the individual players to fault. Was a Juan Soto acquisition smart spending? he did have a .921 OPS but he also hit .263 for the season . Just like to know how one evaluates Smart spending . In your estimation , where would you like Bloom to spend SMARTLY for the Cardinal team ? Thanks Ramfandanicon wrote: ↑17 Oct 2025 10:46 amI said spend more SMARTLY. The Mets somehow had no pitching. Many on here say the 2019 Cards season was a complete failure after having been swept in the NLCS. Does the same hold true for the amazing Brewers?
Also, as I've said all year long, wake me up when the Brewers actually win ANYTHING.
Two games into Championship series- what have we learned.

it would be VERY smart for the Cards to get an outfield with a .900+ ops - he can bat .200 and it would still be smart!ramfandan wrote: ↑17 Oct 2025 14:57 pmThe Mets bolstered their bullpen at the deadline by trading for Helsley. For some odd reason I’m not fully engrained on the dodgers Being a great team. Do they control the tempo- yes. Hit. Yes. Play D. Yes and pitch. Sure do. And well.
What have we learned. One, 162 games is a small number once in post season; two, Dodgers ARE the team to beat.
Are they great? No. Are they good. Very.

A different angled question- what would it take for the Dodgers to lose; get swept, or stomped.
