TLR asleep at the wheel at a stoplight. And asleep at the wheel in the dugout during the 2011 WS, and they still won!

That having been said, though I disagreed with some of TLR's moves, including batting the pitcher 8th, I loved his businesslike approach in the dugout during games. He always had his game face on, and so did his players. Pujols, Edmonds, Rolen, Molina, Carpenter were all business during games. Tony got criticized for winding his players too tight. I'd rather have that than Club Marmol, where anything goes in the dugout and on the field during games. No wonder players apparently like him.

I understand the keeping the players loose aspect, because its a long season. But I get sick to my stomach when I see players laughing and joking around when they are losing. I want the manager to set the tone for culture. Losing should not be fun.

Are labor laws different in St. Louis? Screaming and demeaning doesn't seem like a legal reason to have to fire someone. Depending on how bad it was, it certainly could've been grounds for firing and something they thought they had to do for the sake on the organization. I'm just not sure how it would be a legal issue.

No merit laws apply, or
The state’s limited public policy exception does not apply.
