I'm waiting on Bloom to actually say what he's going to do. He's not that vocal. But honestly I've stopped listening to podcasts and reading. St. Louis media has gotten weary to.

I figure if something important happens, there will be multiple threads here.
No, it's "woolly."

There was a time when Mo was doing a good job for the team, but something changed. I defended him for a long time but towards the end of the '10s it became evident he was no longer up to the task

Some (not all) of you need to get a life. This fan base is spoiled rotten. Mo wasn't the problem.

Cry about it. “This fanbase” is no different than any other fanbase that expects more for their buck.

I don't despise him. He brought in a lot of talent and we got a world series championship. I disagree with firing Matheny but that might have been DeWitt based upon DeWitt's comments.

Yeah, if you want to play the buck stops here, BDW Jr. is the problem for keeping that grossly incompetent fool employed to the point where the entire organization needed a rebuild. So he may not have been the root problem, but he certainly was a problem.

TLR basically forced Mozeliak to do his job at the deadline in 2011. Otherwise, nothing happens.

Based upon the Shelby Miller for Dansby Swanson trade when LaRussa was in charge in Arizona I'd say Mozeliak was a much better GM than LaRussa and the Cardinals would have been a mess if LaRussa had the same role as Herzog.

He took over a great team, and consistently tried to "bandaid" the team with the payroll he received year in and year out. His free agent signings as a whole were absolutely awful - Dexter Fowler, Mike Leake, Steven Matz, Miles Mikolas, Greg Holland, Luke Gregerson, Brett Cecil, etc.
Trading away the wrong assets has also been highly documented - Alcantara, Gallen, Garcia, Arozarena, etc.

Was it all negative? No. But the negatives FAR outweighed the positives, and we have seen the Cardinal "product" become more and more water downed throughout the years. But the most frustrating thing is ownership kept re-signing him, and there was never any accountability. We would win a weak division, squeak into the playoffs and the ownership was happy enough financially and willing to alienate their fan base for profits.

There's a lot of issues that have surfaced.

The Cardinals "philosophy" of building from within was no longer working. Both their drafting and player development has been trending downward. Mozeliak was just making moves based on the culture/philosophy, but he did a demonstrably poor job. The BFIB kept showing support to mediocre teams for too long and were essentially enablers.

I haven't watched much in the last couple years, but this is the first time I stopped even looking at box scores in 20+ years. It's going to take some time to build up this franchise again, and I'm not sure I trust ownership to do what is necessary. Time will well.
There is plenty of blame to go around for the state of the Cardinals. Mo being POBO is a great example of the Peter Principle. He was promoted through the ranks until he reached his level of incompetence. Mo has been in over his head for along time. He ran on the coattails of the legacy left by Walt, TLR, George Kissell, and Jeff Luhnow. Very little of what Mo initiated himself has turned out well. How and why the DeWitts have left him in charge for so long is the biggest mystery of the Cards fall from might.
He kept Bill out of Federal prison and having to sell the cash cow. I refuse to believe he knew nothing of the hacking of the Astros.

When is Bloom's press conference? I assume it's on KMOX radio.

I've had a lot of fun at John Mozeliak's expense over the last few years. While I was frustrated with his arrogance and poor job performance the past decade, I need to be fair.

John Mozeliak had success from 2008 until 2015. Then the slide began. In 2019, they rebounded and made the nlcs. Followed by post season play in 20, 21 and 22. Then the wheels fell off. And Mo had no answers.

I think his arrogance did him in. He thought he could outsmart the other teams. He thought he could do more with less. He was wrong.

Despise him? No. Ready to move on? Yes. But I wish him well. Hes not a horrible person. All the best to you, Mo.

In person, he’s actually a nice guy. He may be an introvert and uncomfortable in the spotlight, which results in him come across as arrogant.

Good call! I’ll bet you are correct. I had forgotten about that sequence of events and Chris Correa.
