Mikolas hunting a contract for next season
We need someone to eat innings

If he sucks you can DFA him

I have zero inside info on the team but at what point do you hold Manager/Staff accountable for the horrendous base running and lack of basic fundamentals?????
That bonehead move by Fermin had nothing to do with the manager's base running fundamentals. That was due to Fermin not having his head in the game.

He is on the team only due to Winn/Donovan being injured . He is not a major leaguer.
Agree
But.....exactly what was Pop doing on that play?????
He needs to be gone next year also!!!!!!

frankly, Gorman was better at 2b
no great shakes, but better
why not Gorman at 2nd and Fermin at 3rd?

One of the duties of the managers and 1B/3B coaches is to make sure the players have their heads in the game at all times.

Him, Church, Walker, Scott, Gorman. Pages, Saggese, Noot...marginal. Team lacks talent in most areas.

Legit GREAT play by Gorman. For a guy who's made some bad plays at third, it was good to see he's capable of making a great play.

OK after watching the replay of the Fermin play a couple times, I believe I may have known why that happned .

With 3-2 count and one out , Oli decided to start the runner from first base as Quintana delikivered the ball. If it is strike 3 on Noot and ball is thrown down to 2nd for the 'strike em out throw em out' ending double play, Oli wanted Fermin to break for home in case the runner was safe at 2nd or at least force the Brewers to throw the ball back to home to nail a sliding Fermin.

If you noticed , the catcher on ball 4 came up in throwing motion in case it was strike 3 , it wasn't . The BIG GOOF by Fermin was that once it was ball 4 , the play is OFF. No throw down as the runner on first gets 2nd base FREE. So no reason for Fermin to even consider breaking for home.
If it wasn't a called play with Fermin goofing it up , then Fermin is really a dumbo .
Like a reporter to ask Oli in postgame, if a 'play was ON ' there to try and steal a run on Brewers on a possible strike 3 throw down.'
