well said.
You guys gripe and gripe. But NEVER post anything creative, Cardinals' baseball-wise.
You think this post was creative? JJ to CF has been talked into the ground. I cant count how many times you've brought it up.

If the infield was Pujols, Womack, Renteria and Rolen, then yes, maybe our #1 prospect should get some OF reps.

But freakin Sagesse or even Donovan ain't pushing JJ to OF...

Folks, it is pretty simple. If you don't like the poster and are tired of his borderline psychotic behavior, and need for constant validation and attention, then don't post on his threads. This is the first post I have made on one for a long time, and it will be the last. Imagine that he starts his usual 3 or 4 threads a day attempting to be on the front page. If no one responds, they will very quickly drop off the front page. After a couple of weeks of this he may go away. Arguing with him or insulting him, or somehow trying to reason with him will not stop the behavior, and it will keep his threads on the front page, which is the validation he seeks. Rant over.. .goodbye...

That's a good counterargument to the CF idea. If you move Wetherholt to CF, you would essentially be moving a rookie down the defensive chart to cover up lack of depth on what is already a rebuilding team. It could be short-sighted. Maybe best to keep him developing at his natural 2B position.

It might be better to keep Wetherholt in the infield and try Saggese in the outfield. Not sure about CF with him, though. The issue is trying to utilize an overabundance of infielders. Arenado, Gorman, Donovan, Saggese and Wetherholt.

Who knew the entire Cardinals universe revolves around Thomas Saggese and Alec Burleson? Go figure.

Saggese in an outfield spot (lf most likely) would be good for versatility but he is going to be an effect of the rest of the roster, not the effect. He's a depth piece, versatility will help him get in where he fits in off the bench.

No decision should be made dependent on Arenado. He's a backup/defensive replacement and a 7 or 8 hitter if he plays again. Not part of the future.

WHY on earth would you do that?

Saggese:
.253 .293 .331 .625

VSII:
.223 .311 .312 .623
Gold Glove caliber defense in CF (+15 OAA is #2 in MLB/+12 DRS is #3)

VSII is not only the vastly superior defensive CFer and base stealer but an equal hitter as well.

Saggesse seems like a nice kid but he's J.A.G.

The problem is. There are gobs of CT posters that are totally obsessed with my OPs and posts. I'd be surprised if they could curtail their idiosyncrasy. I've Add foed a bunch of them and don't respond to their posts that I can't see. But they still persist in their obsession amongst themselves. Peculiar behavior indeed.

I do want the players to know what positions they’re gonna be playing to get better at those positions. People have talked about how Gorman cannot play third base, but he was respectable there earlier in a square and with an off-season to work on, he could be good there if he focused on that position Donovan is one of the rare players that can play WELL at multiple positions

Exactly. You already have two guys (Scott and Church), who can play defense at a high level. And a third guy in Nootbaar (if he's not traded), who can play CF. Let those guys decide who gets the play in CF. One will rise above the group. 2026 doesn't seem to be a competitive year by organizational plans. Its probably a second season of evaluation since Mozeliak handled this one in the usual half-[ashed] manner.

I wonder what team would overpay for Donovan. I've always looked at him as a core piece and a pure hitter (when healthy) but if 2026 isn't a competitive year, and, you don't plan to have an extension in place for him pretty much by Opening Day 2026 (it looks like he will have 2 years left control after this year, do I see that right?), then it's time to flip him. You wouldn't carry him into 2027 in a contract year, thinking he's a core piece at that point. I've read Yankee boards where they absolutely salivate over the idea of having a hitter like Donovan atop their lineup. Maybe Clarke Schmidt (coming off injury and also into his arb years) is no longer the guy, or maybe he is.

If it's SP we are desperate for, you could do a lot worse than having Clarke Schmidt and Walker Beuhler (discussed in yesterday's thread) on hand as cheap reclamation projects. Two right-handers to go with the plethora of lefties we have. Either of which you might end up extending if they impress in 2026.

How could you expand a Donovan for Schmidt deal?

Lots of good discussion but in my opinion WAY too early for speculation on what happens in November with potential trades & Free Agency.
Right now(barring trades) you’re probably looking at:
1B- WC 2B-JJ? SS- Winn 3B- Arenado
That pushes Donovan and Burleson to Corner OF/DH.
Then you factor in Gorman and Herrera.
Of course deals are likely.
Arenado dealt?
LH bat(s) dealt? You could see one or more of Noot/Gorman/Donovan/Burleson/Scott/Church moved preferably for pitching?
Catcher(s) dealt?
Any/all create a domino affect.

But...for the sake of this thread I doubt we see JJ moved to the OF.
But time will tell!
