Hilarious. And Trump was going to end the Ukraine war in one day.11WSChamps wrote: ↑27 Aug 2025 08:52 amI could have fixed it years ago.Melville wrote: ↑27 Aug 2025 08:51 amI could fix this roster in less than 30 days.11WSChamps wrote: ↑27 Aug 2025 08:49 am For those who feel the need to defend this spiral that's led to this hard not to admit what the ballclub has become.
And people actually believe this team can compete for the division next season.
Just brutal.
Any competent person could.
My response was "years ago" and gave such an example in this thread.ClassicO wrote: ↑27 Aug 2025 16:09 pmHilarious. I don't see any posts from either of you over the past 60 days that suggest such a "fix."
In the absence of both of you pointing them out -- or even making your "fix" recommendations now -- I'll consider these posts as a joke.
Possible scenario with a BP game essentially.ramfandan wrote: ↑27 Aug 2025 08:29 amThat’s what the coaches are discussing today. Nobody at AAA seems ready ti take that spot.redbirdfan51 wrote: ↑27 Aug 2025 08:11 am If Pallante is put on the IL or demoted to the pen, who takes his place in the rotation?
One option would be… ok for every 5th start should that be sa bullpen game. Pitch three relievers 2 innings each, for example , for the first 6 innings. Then finish with your usual backend guys.
With 29 games remaining, they would need to do that just for 5 games.
If this was a decision in June, I would not do that but with 29 games left, if I was a coach at the meeting I would put forward that as an option especially if there is no consensus for one pitcher to replace Pallante.
Why on would you have Pallante as an opener after he just allowed 5 in the 1st? To the Pirates? Not that it makes any difference at this point.Cusecards wrote: ↑27 Aug 2025 16:20 pmPossible scenario with a BP game essentially.ramfandan wrote: ↑27 Aug 2025 08:29 amThat’s what the coaches are discussing today. You could even have Pallante serve as the “opener” in that scenario so if he is effective he could easily go more than two innings??
OK. So signing Harper is your answer. Only two problems:11WSChamps wrote: ↑27 Aug 2025 16:13 pmMy response was "years ago" and gave such an example in this thread.ClassicO wrote: ↑27 Aug 2025 16:09 pmHilarious. A bullpen start every 5th day is not realistic. The guys we have are already struggling to cover innings. They need to be less used, not more.Cusecards wrote: ↑27 Aug 2025 16:20 pmPossible scenario with a BP game essentially.ramfandan wrote: ↑27 Aug 2025 08:29 amThat’s what the coaches are discussing today. Actually I have included signing Harper on several threads such as these for the last several seasons sorry you missed it.ClassicO wrote: ↑27 Aug 2025 16:29 pmOK. So signing Harper is your answer. 1) You realize that Harper had to agree? Minor point. He said no to the Dodgers and Cubs, but I'm sure you could have convinced him.

2) You had to convince BDW to sign him to the 13-year contract - the largest in MLB history at the time.
And it's a big jump to say that IF they did that, they would not have made the Ozuna trade.
PS - "Years ago" is convenient. In the past few years, you didn't mention it again?

You already told us all how to fix it! Here's a recap:Melville wrote: ↑27 Aug 2025 08:51 amI could fix this roster in less than 30 days.11WSChamps wrote: ↑27 Aug 2025 08:49 am For those who feel the need to defend this spiral that's led to this hard not to admit what the ballclub has become.

First, how do you fix it now?11WSChamps wrote: ↑27 Aug 2025 16:37 pmActually I have included signing Harper on several threads such as these for the last several seasons sorry you missed it.ClassicO wrote: ↑27 Aug 2025 16:29 pmOK. As for the hypothetical the question was what I would do.
Not what I would do if I had to work under DeWitt. If you're going to restrict on one hand then you have to give some latitude on the other.
Why would they have to make the Ozuna trade?
The MOB would already be here.
Not to mention they wouldn't have had to go out and get stiffs like Mikolas, Lynn, Gibson, etc with Alcantra and Gallen having cost controlled years.
Not with the limitations DeWitt has placed. Those will make this at best a three more year run of mediocrity. Curious though what your fixes are?Melville wrote: ↑27 Aug 2025 08:51 amI could fix this roster in less than 30 days.11WSChamps wrote: ↑27 Aug 2025 08:49 am For those who feel the need to defend this spiral that's led to this hard not to admit what the ballclub has become.

As has been mentioned in other situations, the 40 man should not be an issue. There are multiple people on it that could easily come off. Its a lame excuse being used by the lazy front office.BrummerStealsHome wrote: ↑27 Aug 2025 08:43 amThe caveat to that is Curtis Taylor at Memphis, that 3dender mentioned above. The reason they haven't summoned him yet is that he's not on the 40-man roster.ScotchMIrish wrote: ↑27 Aug 2025 07:36 am If there was a good option he would already be in St Louis.
