How old ae you and how long have you been a Cardinal fan?
Not the OP but 79 and started following the Cards avidly in 1954. I had started following baseball in 1953 listening to Browns games on the radio and became a fan of Satchel Paige. My Dad took me to my first MLB game at Sportsman’s Park near the end of the 53 season to see Paige pitch.
Fun stuff Chitown, you watched some history right there.

First Cards game was in the 50's in Sportsmans Park against the Dodgers. Frank Howard was in right field for the Dodgers. Stan Musial homered for the Cardinals. Been a Cards fan all my life. KMOX was the key.

Not this game. Although Frank Howard was the Dodgers primary right fielder in 1963, he didn't play in the September 16 game. Wally Moon was in right field for Los Angeles that night. Musial did hit his 475th and final HR in this game. If the game occurred in 1963, it would have been the game on May 8th. However, I thought you said earlier that your first game was in the 1950s?
On Sept. 17 Musial met Koufax for the last time. In the 7th inning Musial broke up Koufax's no hitter with a single to center.

The Cards had won 10 games in a row to move to within one game of the first-place Dodgers in 1963. The Dodgers were coming to town for a three-game series (Sept. 16, 17, 18). I can still remember my excitement more than 60 years later. If the Cards could sweep, they would be up by 2 games over LA. Even winning two of the three games meant a tie for first place.
My dreams were shattered when the Dodgers swept the Cards and left town 4 games ahead. I knew there would be no pennant for STL in 1963. This was also the farewell season of my hero Stan The Man.
Fortunately, things picked up in 1964. They traded for Brock and won the first World Championship of my lifetime.

If you understand that it was Colonel Mustard with the Lead Pipe in the Study .. then yes you have a CLUE about the older generation.

That's quite naive. I've been too kind on many an occasion and been more sorry for what it cost me than any mean thing I've ever done. From sanity to relationships to property, being too kind has definitely hurt me more than being too mean.

I’m 69. So I’m both old enough yet young. I’ve always said, a human will bring you down. Sooner or later, no matter the type relationship, someone is gonna become dependent.
Some like it that way. I’ve learned after 50 years of needing someone, that aloneness is a domain untapped.
